Hello everyone,
My name is Becca and i'm 20 from Stoke-on-Trent in the UK
I have just bought this pretty little lady...
Bought completely blind from ebay and saved from the dreaded breakers yard.
A 1.7 and I have mighty plans for her
This is a total break from the norm for me as here is my beautiful baby (be nice!!):
Hoping the forum will be of help in my venture into Volvo ownership
Becca

well done on the buy Becca.
1.7 is the best starting point if you have evil engine swap plans.
That Borbet As on the golf?
look awesome.
Oh, and Welcome to the forum.

Wellers will be going on if the Ronals don't look like I imagine they are going to
Not sure if I will get stoned for this but i've bought her to drift. I think they are gorgeous little cars though (I have a thing for 'ugly' retro metal

) so she isn't going to be abused.
I was going to go for a matt RAF blue paint job but I really love the colour of the one i've bought so depending on quality of the paint (as I say i've bought her blind but it worked with my Golf!) it most likely be staying gold. Slam her on her bum and maybe a bike exhaust or similar.. also being a dubnut I have decided I want to try and make a duckbill from a MK1 Golf GTI to fit

if anyone has any idea if it does that would save me a lot of messing about
Engine wise... thinking of messing with the standard 1.7 after learning it same (or similar?) to that in a Renault 5 and either popping a turbo on or maybe bike carbs, but i'm sure reading up on here will let me know if this is a good idea or nay!

Everyones welcome here.
Theres plenty of drifters knocking around.
If you DO fancy an upgrade, the F7P 1.8 (or 2.0 F7R) is an easy conversion. And it will make you go very fast and more people will want be you.

Hello there welcome to the forum. It's just a fact of life now that most people buy these for drifting so we won't knock you for it as long as you give us dibs on the parts 1st when you break it
Yes Mk1 Golf splitter fit's is probably the most popular spliter i've seen fitted to 300's.
Someone had Kleebolts fitted so may be able you can drag a picture up to see what they look like.
No Golf slagging from me your one looks nice and i had a 8v Mk2 and i've got a 60 Bug at the moment.
As for engines i can highly recomend the 2.0 F7R from the Williams Clio
Look forward to seeing another one develop

welcome,
looks a nice one, just watch out for the rust! Looking around the site will give you lots of ideas.
Dubs not bad either, love borbet As like. Sure you'll enjoy the RWD facror of the volvo.
I found the insurance is cheap (as far as insurance prices go) on 300's compared to other cars of similar power etc. Was + 15p to move from a 1.4 206 to my 2L 360 at 19 years old

Welcome Becca.
Get her welded and keep it sideways (with the occasional spot of pampering) I think you and I are on the same wavelength with these cars.
Nice mk2 GTi. Welcome to (much more fun) world of RWD!
Duckbills fit easily enough - I too thought I was alone in wanting to fit one, then i found out there's loads. All at varying angles it would seem lol.
Here's mine next to Matts. His is a mk3 like yours.
Liam.

Welcome Becca, nice one on saving that beauty from the scrapheap! Look forward to seeing it modified and for engine swap plans I recommend an F7R

Thank you all for the awesome welcome

and thanks for the pics and tips, loads of inspiration there

I like this forum already!
Though I have pretty bad news

after agreeing to buy and agreeing a price, the guy decided to break the 340 I was going to buy (above)

gutted does not describe it!
The good news is though I am now hooked by these little cars and I am feverishly searching for another, seen a couple that are slightly more than I was first willing to pay but like I say, hooked
