As seen on:

Most of it is shit for us and every other old car owner. It's worth a read.

Would the emissions not be off the origonal manufacturers spec with an altered ecu?
Spose they could go by that, but I suppose emissions change anyway as cars get older.

Gonna be interesting to see how they go about it really.
Might get another ticket on before I turn up my boost. :?

I believe that we have all of that already, at least worst of it, but mostly it does have effect to new cars, pre 1987.9 have quite little of those, pre 1968 have almost none, not even emissions test.

Putting chip to 2009 year car is not allowed, ODB is used to control such things I believe, also there can't be error codes in ODB memory for certain amount of time etc. All cars have to pass emission limits as of there is records of them, but those are hardly a problem.

Putting motor that has not been in car from factory, that has been made bit difficult, you need to proof that engine mounts, brakes etc are enough, from engine mounts you need engineer calculations. Test lab is often required to proof things and it costs from 1000 euros upwards.

Lights are controlled here already so that all have to be E-marked and no christmas lights allowed to bottom of car, which some seem to do.

Lately they have taken strict approach to rear wings, anything bigger than oem might get MOT void, pedestrian safety etc etc is claimed to be reason for that, too sharp edges on those big wings maybe or something like that is the reason.

Those alone have put me away from any modern crap, even I might not do anything of above, I enjoy from possibility of doing if I ever liked to.
Oh, if car is resprayed with other color it must be reported to MOT office, there are also strict rules about which tyres and wheels are allowed, so from days of 80's when building cars were interesting possibility, we have gone to nannystate where nothing is allowed, I guess soon you need license, permit and application for permission to replace radio unit of your car.

I guess these kind of tightening limitations of life, that big audience never seem to be bothered about is why there is so many people turned against whole EU here, everything must be tasteless, odorless and unisex, every year some of freedom is lost, because of new regulations, kind of killing to hobby, imo.

Safety is a ridiculous reasoning.
In the UK you can go blind, mad, be clyincally suicidal and still drive a car legally.
But bike carbs make a car unsafe. :?: *

*= well they do if im driving it.

Sounds very familiar, I did follow one case where mentally ill person had license and his parents could not get it away from him, no authority were any help, only after mentally ill person started to chase pedestrians with his car, then authorities did see any problem, even every person near that ill person could say there will be a problem.

That mentally ill person is perhaps never let free again from facility he is now, state is so bad and yet he was driving among others.

But put wrong bulb to your car and that is a problem, add few extra spots to actually see something on salt darken roads, there is a problem.

Too much bureaucrats and too little logic and we get what we have.

Maybe they will give me fines from using 185-75-14 tyres instead of 175-65-14 or 185-60-14, that is quite possible, that is so dangerous.
