If you don't have a cable release, set the camera to timer, when mine is on timer and mirror lock up the timer is reduced to 2 secs and sets the mirror off first, then the shutter those 2 secs later.
It refuses to comply, I choose mirror lockup from menu, then press shutter once to open the mirror, after that no matter how much I press the button it just writes on screen that mirror is locked up and refuses to take any photos, had same with D40 and never managed to figure out how to get it to comply with my orders.
That would help quite a bit there.
edit:
Had not much time to play with it today, there was lot of ice crystals on air, around moon there was quite bright halo effect, but setting shutter to really quick and ISO to maximum I managed to grab a lot of noise and bit of moon too, that is 5MB file, so only url.

When I have more time to play with that, I will make some proper photo of moon, also remote launcher is still on delivery and timer would need to be at least 15 seconds to let shaking to stop.
