340DL, which i can't drive yet as i haven't passed my driving test.

Congratulations for your first car. You will have fun driving this
car. The engine is a B14 very easy to maintain and above all reliable.
Moreover, you have a car which will become a vehicle of collection pretty soon.
Good luck for the driving license exam.

The story of your 340 is particular, isn't it? 5 years stationary
because your grandfather fell ill and wasn't able to drive the car... sm16

I don't know why but red give the 340 a very cool 80's style.

Yes if it had stayed outside, this volvo 340 would have suffer.
I like the red color for cars but most old red cars suffer of decoloration. They become orange. I
notice this in south of France due to sun I think.
But this volvo has its red color like new. Just maintain it.

this car is really nice, keep it in 100% original condition and you'll have the coolest car around
