as for 1st car insurance - Really dont know, look online for the cheaper companies and then ring them up to get a cheaper quote.

Please do a forum search buddy and read around for a few days first. Engine conversions have been covered again and again. The 360 engine takes a LOT of work on a 340. There are better conversions you'll be able to do for more power.

And if you're the main driver (which i'm assuming this guy will want to be) it is also calling fronting -> fraud -> Illegal.

Sorry for the blunt post if you do NOT plan to be the main driver for this insurance quote but fronting is a real pet peeve of mine.

As sam says,
Bear in mind that insurance firms have been known to use information gained from internet forums in legal proceedings too.
So stay legal, sensible and safe boys.

Insurance companies also won't asy anything until you make a claim. they dont care because you are paying them and as fronting invalidates insurance they dont give you anything back.

Being a second driver is ok if you only use the car now and again and for less time and miles as main driver. best way is to shell out for your own and start earning that no claims! 50% discount first year isn't it?

But if you manage to get away with it and they do pay out it's just another thing thats increasing honest peoples premiums.

Think I read a while back on a different forum somebody was complaining about the insurance on his M3. It was pointed out that some ins companies actually lost money overall on M3s. a lot of which was put down to people fronting and young lads using a powerful car they would normally be priced out of and then causing a fair few quids worth of damage when they crashed.

Agree, start smaller and get NCB to prove you're less of a risk

Pass plus gets newly passed drivers a good discount for 2 years IIRC

The Institute of Advanced Motorists test is recognised by insurer's, gives a good discount. Other organisations like Rospa? do them. Initial cost for the IAM one is £135 plus £30 a year but for a young driver, they'd make that back in a year. also if you are wanting a really low price you could knock off things like breakdown cover and windscreen repair - although they are both rather useful if your not coverd by AA / RAC etc.

Trackers put the insurance down a fair bit too but initial cost is rather a lot.

Good luck with it mate!

Trackers still have a huge yearly subscribtion (at least, last time I looked they did)

IAM on the other hand (I take it you mean the skill for life course) not only reduces premiums but is amazingly good for getting your skills up. I learnt a huge amount of helpful things by doing my course, mainly the observation bits. There are very few people I know who wouldn't benefit in someway from it. Under 25's used to get a hefty discount on the course too, I only paid £75 I seem to remember.
