Bought a Winner :]

Post by Frits » 02 Jan 2011 10:56 pm

Well, sometimes I just can not control myself

I wanted a car for fun. The 360 motorsport build isn't any near to driving. And I'm very carefull with my GLS.. so .. I needed another one for fun.

I wanted a car
-for less than €300
-older than 25 years (no tax in holland)
-manual gearbox
-shouldn't involve much work to get it road legal.

For this time I looked also for other brands, but this was the only one that suited my list...

Winner? Loser! Lamppost vs Winner: 1-0 That's why it was cheap :]

I was a bit enthusiast, so I called the garage to plan the MOT on thursday  Now I found out I do not have the right radiator, but thanks to the volvo 300 club holland I'll probably get one in time. Don't know what the garage will say about the front bar....

Looks like the renix has died and someone's fitted a conventional coil.

Wow, that's quick working. I'm keen to see what you get out of the detuned B14.3E :-) AFAIK a B14.4 downpipe would help too ...

Cheers

If we had a "Thread of the month" award, this would win.
At a time when it seems everyone is breaking cars with minimal problems, its great to see someone getting stuck in. :D

B14.3 has a single piece cast-iron manifold wich includes the intake and exhaust side, exactly the reason why these crack all the time.

so you don't just need the B14.2E or B14.4E downpipe, but also both intake and exhaust manifold

MOT!! sm4

Wensday evening (23:00) changed radiator for a used one. Filled everything up, fucking leak!! Aargh, needed to the test next day.. So I jumped in the car and drove to the first tank station and bought Wynn's stop radiator leak  Filled up again and everything seemed fine. Next day, car to garage and went to work. Got a call yesterday, only one tire need to be changed and I had to reshape the front bar a little bit more. I said ok, I'll pick up the car friday (today). So today I went to the garage, and they already fixed the front bar lol  So I gave the guys a nice tip, went home, picked up different tyres and I got MOT. sm4

The original fan died with the crash. So I converted a sucking fan to a blowing fan.

The garage guys renamed the Winner

The car's handling is great. Much better than a 360.

Never seen a dash like that before, love the car some times I wish mine was a bit ruffer so wouldn't have to be so nervous about nocking it.

Completely knocked down Euro spec, "Winners" were "Juniors" in Germany ... Did all UK cars get clocks?
