Fronting is against the law. And wrong.
But if you transfer ownership to your dad, and insure him, then yourself as a second driver and only use the car occasionally rather than not at all?
Sure thatd come out a long way lighter than two thousand Gregs mince pies.
Think its gonna be high no matter what though troop.
Admirals 10 month NCB booster scheme gets you a discount quicker, and if you pile two extra 2nd drivers over 30years of age on it comes down somewhat. Maybe not much considering your age though.
Rock a quote?

Re: Need desperate help with insurance
For me cost is ~230 and that is in euros, getting old is good at least in one thing it seems
Base price also is 1/4th of yours I think, must be drifter scene that has ramped up prizes in there?
From french crap I pay 203 euros and if there is accident I don't need to pay a dime as many accident free years lowers amount which person need to pay himself, at least some things are fine in here.
Anyway as we are in EU and it boasts open markets and no borders for business, should it be possible to buy insurance from another country? If not country should be put in front of court for limiting borderless markets
edit: Look it does say car insurance in here, so shop around, you should get better quotes from some another country and greedy insurance companies surely will respond to such interest as it means more customer base, they perhaps need just bit shaking to get them realize possibilities:

Something has, insurance as a whole has gone up in the last 5 years but 300's have got a bit silly recently compared.jtbo wrote:Base price also is 1/4th of yours I think, must be drifter scene that has ramped up prizes in there?

Re: Need desperate help with insurance
Have you tried classic car insurance such as Footman James? (footmanjames.co.uk) 340s are recognised as "classics". Some policies have limited mileages though but it's worth a go. My policy costs about £150 pa fully comp and that includes the DAF too. Mind you, I'm getting on a bit, I guess!
Another firm worth trying is Q4 insurance (q4.com)

Problem is with a lot of "classic" policies, youngsters do not qualify. Its usually over 21 from my memory.Bjorn Belter wrote:Have you tried classic car insurance such as Footman James? Re: Need desperate help with insurance
Some under 21s do qualify, which they never did in the past, it's a case of phone and ask really.
Specialist brokers are probably the way to go rather than comparison sites.

Hi mate.
I also thought you had to be over 21 for classic insurance. Learn something new every day.
A 1.4 will be easier on you than a 2lt.
Cheers Mark.
PS Mines as cheap as Belters , but then again i am nearly dead

Re: Need desperate help with insurance
i may have to sell my 340 for this exact reason
2yrs driving and 2yrs ncb and still 3000 on a 1.4 takes the biscuit

Re: Need desperate help with insurance
I'm aware there are still cheapish companies out there. 22 with 2 years ncb and I still got the valver insured for 800 a year. Very hard to get insured on anything aged 17, maybe get dad to drive it for a year?

Re: Need desperate help with insurance
Well I'm considerably younger than Belter (sorry Mr B.) and I pay less than that for more than two cars*.
I propose an across-the-board flat rate increase in road tax so if it's taxed, there is 3rd party insurance on it. if you want more cover then you buy it as an extra. - think those of a certain older generation that had it good should do a bit of cross subsidy. It's very imbalanced at the moment.

It does indeed take the biscuit. You need a new postcode by the sound of it.dakary340 wrote:i may have to sell my 340 for this exact reason![]()

try admiral my 340 was £400 with them when I was 19, 0 NCB, tpft
best thing ive found is putting it in your name but adding others to drive aswell eg. at 20 my quote for the RX-8 was £1800
added my girlfriend on as a named driver (shes only 21) came down to £1100
thats with admiral too
