Oh dear. Let this be a lesson to never ever hand over money until you've seen the V5.

I think you can apply without a new keeper slip, as not mentioned here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Bu ... DG_4022404

If you're worried just send a letter along with it explaining. It's never failed me up to now!

You can actually apply for the V5 for any car as it isn't proof of ownership to actually have the car registered to you.

problem being is the dvla had the v5 at the time, dickhead (his new name) only had the car 2 weeks before he broke it, and then the dvla lost the paper work, i checked it all out online and its all legit and in dickheads name. just need the bit of paper to sign it over to me!

im just going by what it says on the v62 notes page, that if its a change of keeper ie dickhead to me (dickhead2 for trusting him) it needs the new keeper slip, which i dont have.

im going to try get to the local orifice to talk to them tomorrow.

Take £25 or whatever the fee is 'cos I think you'll be paying the hit :(

No V5C, but legit = Fork out £25 for new V5C.

If you're V5C doesn't turn up within 6 weeks, then get on to them as you only have 3 months to claim a freebie replacement, leave it longer and they'll want another £25.

right ive been to spoken to em on the phone and dickhead has majorly fucked up and infact i may be off to see him tonight sm2

it is vic marked, needs a vosa id check. then things will be sorted. 50 quid for em to stand and say yep, its a 306 estate.
they are happy enough to stand at the side of a road in the pissing rain and randomly pull cars, yet give em a warm workshop and they want paying.

Caveat emptor.

If it's Cat D you'll be paying the 25 and the VIC fee.
Cat C just the VIC fee.

Leastwise that's my take on it.

My take:

Cat D (isn't marked), replacement V5C = £25
Cat C (is marked), VIC fee £41.

right just been to talk to him and its very confusing

according to the dvla it cant by mot'd or taxed or anything while it has a vic mark on it. and it has both.

infact its been vic marked since 2009, and has been mot'd twice and taxed 4 times. :?

Could do, but you'd get 55mpg and 120BHP from a f-type diesel from a kangoo with 340 running gear
