I ave been experiencing a `clunk` in the rear near side brake every morning after parking on my sloping drive when I release the brakes, they don't bind but I thought I would have a look when the bad weather had subsided. I found the leading shoe was looking quite thin, so I've decided to replace both NS & OS. I'm a bit confused about the small `nylon`? gadget ( a kind of butterfly shape) that projects from the rear of the back plate What is it's purpose:? I also can't find anyone who can supply the new linings

Is it possible you guys can point me towards a supplier please?

Clips, springs and funny things: should cure any funkiness in the brakes.

Thanks CBA, I do have that picture, but I need to know how the `gadjet` works, ir seems so small to be doing anything at all and also there dosen't seem to be any way of securing it to anything?
It's named a `Stop` but

sure its for one of the springs to hook onto??
the manual is best used to sit on wet ground without getting ass wet imo.. its a joke.

it hooks onto spring(7), reckon youve snap-lost that spring.
leading to clunk and uneven shoe wear.

spring 7 is low down the shoe well away from the Nylon stopper in my picture, but I can't see your picture clear enough, because when I try to expand etc your pi' it gets very blured. You will see in my picture that the Nylon stopper enters the back plate though the rubber boot where the hand brake lever comes through. TYhe small spring that attaches to the hand brake lever is the only spring anywhere near the Nylon stopper, but that too would never reach the `stopper`, though I do understand what you mean by it being held in place with some kind of spring that isn't shown in the `kneeling` manual
I will only be able to fully see what is going on when I strip down the brakes; I just needed all the info I could get before I start the job.
BTW how do I know if the shoes are the right way around bnecause I see by the new ones I have here that the `friction areas on the lead and trailing shoes are off set, ie; is the leading shoe to have the friction area fitted with the short bit at the bottom and visa versa for rear?. Thanks again for all your help and patience in this problem.
