Volvo museum feature in Retro Cars

Post by Speedy88 » 17 Mar 2011 02:51 am

If you ever needed an extra reason to go buy this mag, it's got a cool Volvo museum feature. Also loads of other cool cars accross the ages :D

300 series gets mentioned, which is a first for mainstream magazines. Plus the edit asks "why do we never see modified volvos in the uk?"

Go get it now!

Retro Cars are due to do a feature on engine-swapped Volvos in due course...but they want a cross-section of different models. Bryn who works there has Suterman's old turbo-swapped 240, plus Max has one too...then there are Chesh's 740 T5 and Ryan's 740 2.5 16vT...plus a couple of 300s (a valver and a B230 Turbo....Liam?) and we're laughing.

They've pretty much been on standby for the last 3 years waiting for us to get enough cars together sm56

cheers

I'm more than willing to get involved in this, but don't know if they'd prefer a pretty car over one that actually gets used for some motorsports?

Picked up the magazine, lots of 300's, the KRB Trading nutter, 343 RSport rallycross and a couple of randoms too.

Really good feature from Bryn I'd say and the rest of the magazine inc the editorial ties in well.

Steve... I'm getting there dude! Slowly, but it'll be sooo much better this time round.

Think I'll get hold of a copy of this!

Genuinely interested in the upgraded parts you're looking into - might make a F7R 340 a viable and reliable option

+1.
Only with less probability of actual accomplishment.

Just got a copy of the mag. Got to see those cars for real :D

Anyone up for a trip to the museum? Very expensive by road and or ferry, would cost 100's just in fuel to drive. Flights from Manchester £66 per person in June. Accomodation 2 nights (not sure yet but hotels ain't cheap there  ) however, less than £5 to get in the museum.

Having looked at hotel prices combined with the cost of 3 flights for us, a driving/camping 3 day break suddenly looks more attractive now, considering the the advantage of having a car there and more options for cheaper accommodation by staying outside the city or camping. The north sea ferry is expensive but still only equal to the cost of fuel burnt if driving all the way down south then up the other side to Sweden  .

I'd be tempted tbh... I'd love to look at that museum!

Time and pennies would restrict as ever, but intrested to see what it does work out to be... and how long it'll be till we have a strong pound again!

I've been...we roadtripped back in 2007. I'd not go there for the factory alone (it's not *that* exciting!), but we had an awesome time. It wouldn't be *too* expensive between four people in a car...especially something which can do 50mpg or so. Our car did 20mpg (at 100mph!), but the fuel was cheaper back then...

Always wanted to go, but I wouldn't want to do it in anything other than a 300 really. A 940 as second choice.
I don't think I'd fancy flying there.
That'd feel a bit like cheating at an exam to me.........

I'd be down for another trip. I reserve the right to insist on a 300 that's *relatively* quiet, though...1000+ motorway miles in my 343 would not be much fun!
