My speed sensor came from Adam on here. As far as i'm aware it's a standard part, but i may well be wrong, i often am

It goes in the back of the rev counter, there is a snap off panel ready there for it if we are talking about the same part?

yea the vss is off the volvo 400 series as the clocks are the same not all of them though, it self taps with two screws and holds down on the speedo there will be a hole for it.

i have sorted the wiring out i think thanks to adam but i wont say as it will affect his buisness on here but i will if he doesnt mind?

im going to solder wire onto it as it doesnt have that on it and put a small plug on it as it doesnt have that so i can unplug it when i take the clocks out :D

well much didnt happen during the week as i was on shift :( but during the week i acquired a few things i.e alternator, dipstick, coilpack, fluids,ht leads etc oh and a fuel pump with mount from a calibra 2.0ltr.

also picked up a renault 19 thermostat housing as it faces the right way(clio on the left and r19 on the right)
Image
Image

over the weekend i fitted the alternator,ht leads, put oil in(5 litres do these engine drink too lol)1.7 volvo 340 oil filter for top filtration:D oh and the 1.7 340 rad hoses i found but need to t in the heater hose and sort the feed out too.

while i was doing that this little shtit cleaned my daily run about as i cought him throwing a rock at it.chased him down the ally to his house got him grounded lol his parents told him to clean it there doing but it needed to be cleaned anyway lol

Image

well today(sunday) i focused on the fuel system as i was going to injection so i needed to fit high pressure fuel lines and a fuel pump.
as i said above i already got the fuel pump off a calibra and i picked up some plastic 8mm fuel lines(air line) rated to 10bar.

Image

proceeded to mount the fuel pump first(note will fit a swirl pot just tight on cash)

Image

Image

old fuel lines out(6mm od lol)

Image

new fuel lines fitted

Image
Image

thing is though that was not to bad to do but the thing that took the longest was the power feed to the pump as i fed it through the car as i wanted it inside the car if there was a short not next to the fuel lines lol i had to take loads of the interior panels out to feed it but fed it through and into the engine bay through the bonnet cable grommet in the bulk head.

Image

this is as i left it at 8pm tonight :D

Cheers dude what you doing for the exhaust downpipe etc? Think I will to get my welder out :) I have a downpipe with the engine hope it fits as I could mate it with rest of the system :)

Hopefully I can get my inlet manifold sent off today for more mods as my mate should be back from holiday :D

well during the week i had umpf to get the volvo done so i went to a volvo scrappy with hundreds off them:D to get a arb some more hoses and a volvo 240 throttle cable :)
Image

funny things was i said to him i needed a lift so i could get the arb off but instead of lifting he did this lol
Image
Image
Image

so came back from the scrappy happy as i got what i needed as i manged to finish off the coolant system with 1.7 340 parts and a 850 t piece from the back of the engine chopped down :D
Image
Image
Image

i removed the studs from the exhaust side as the nuts where missing and i didnt have any to replace it with so i used stainless steel bolts with locking washers
Image
Image

i had a predicament as my throttle body i had from the clio wouldnt work in my set up as the r19 throttle body i had had a flange so i could put a air filter on it as the clio one didnt, also the throttle attachment on the r19 was different as the clio had the bike brake cable attachment which i needed.

so i took the attachment off, took the pivot shaft and butterfly off and swapped it round and fitted and reset the tps on the r19 throttle body.
(bottom r19 mixed with clio parts, and the top the clio throttle body)

well over friday and saturday i started on my wiring boy what a time consuming job think i worked out 10 hours or so.i still havnt finished yet though.
so i spread out my loom ready for me to chop it up.cut the plug off and chopped off what i needed(no going back lol)
Image
Image
Image
Image

and this is what i didnt need from the loom lol a bloody lot lol
Image

just some pictures of what i was dealing with
Image
Image
Image

this was when i packed up for the night on friday leaving with just the lambda sensor plug to wire in
Image

then saturday came and i carried on doing the wiring
Image

then i needed a positive feed, ignition feed and a earth for the ecu harness.so i tapped into the harness and used an 340 plug i got from the scrappy
Image

the ecu harness was wired up finally :D but i still have relays and such to do lol
Image

mounted the ecu down
Image
Image

finished wiring up the relays
Image

as i left it but i did turn the ignition on and the fuel pump primed :) well happy but im still waiting on the inlet manifold so i can start it finally :D

Yeah that's a decent scrappy (was also on Top Gear). Been there twice and they're pretty helpful. Shame about their prices though but I guess you get that with a lot of scrappies.

Good work! I didnt do the loom on mine, got Adam to do it, its a tonne of work!

As regards to the downpipe, it fits, but rests on the RH steering boot, so melts it. Theres also no room for a bend on the end of it, as it pretty much meets the bulkhead. Ive had to make do with the bodge setup above, with a homemade baffle for now to drive round in. Next week sees a new zorst made up though. Cant wait for some quiet! Going well dude, any plans for the suspension etc?

Yeah, great work on the loom. Once you can get your head round plugging all the sensors you need in, then the wiring of those to the plug is just a case of being methodical.
