Early door parts availability

Post by L14MNP » 12 Apr 2011 08:31 pm

Is thie even worth posting? lol

I have stripped down one of the doors from 'that' 343 and the rubbers have seen better days, as has the 'scraper' strip thing that runs along the bottom and clips to the door skin.

Not to mention the doors themselves - there's many a nasty hiding under your window frames folks!

So, can the rubbers and stuff still be found?

Cheers, Liam.

What do you mean by rubbers, around the window? And scraper strip, is that the plastic bit at the bottom of the window? I doubt if anything is available unless someones got them stashed away, I have no parts other than the ones on the car!

Aye mate, the rubbers that sit inthe door frame and window channels, and yeah, that plastic bit at the bottom.

I had a feeling you/someone else would answer with something like that! :(

These are the hardest doors I have ever stripped too! They put up a right fight - and I couldn't get the door rods off yesterday, FJ was required for that lol.

Do you plan to strip your doors bare during your resto?

I have some stashed...

They arn't for sale, but I'll happily get measurements off them. I can't imagine they are different to most trim on most cars in the 70's and which is commonly reproduced already.

Cheers for the offer Chris. I can get measurememnts from these ones, they're in one piece still, just rocking a few splits etc.

I was thinking I could cut down a later 3 door rubber maybe. I shall have to compare the two.

Good to hear that there's places remanufacturing stuff like this, as you say, it's all pretty generic.

The ones I have are 3dr ones. 5dr ran out at the stealers a long time ago (pre V3M starting) and when a few of us when to get some around 2004 ish dealers were selling 3dr ones when given the 5dr part number to cut.

I'll try and dig out the place I found that looked promising a while back for trim.
