Door removal/pin replacement the easy way!

Post by L14MNP » 08 May 2011 12:37 pm

As there seems to be a few old posts on here talking about how much of an arse on it is and what is required. Here is what works for me. May be of use to others?
Forget the Volvo/Draper etc pin removal tools. All you need it below:

Door removal kit as modeled on the 343 that I/Ben/John bought.

The pro kit (smooth bar would be better, but I had this lying around)

Estimated time, 2-5 mins per door. Remember to remove the chck strap first! Same to refit. :D

You're meant to knock the bottom pin upwards, but this is a right carry on. This way allows the pin to clear the door section of the hinge without hitting the door, then it's clear enough to lift the door off. The just pull the pin out with mole grips. Or punch it right through with the drift if you don't care about it making a little scratch on the inside of the door.

That, looks to be an oft referred to "suitably sized drift"
