Newbie with a towbar question

Post by mattywatsit » 08 May 2011 07:03 pm

Hi Everyone,

I thought it wasw about time to introduce myself, i've been a visiting guest for a while and a lurker for a few weeks since i joined up!

I am currently on the look out for a nice 340 that isn't too far of a travel, they are getting rare now so its harder to find one :(

Currently i own an Astra Mk4 1.6 but really miss my first car which was a 1989 Metro Clubman 998cc - my heart really lies with what are now 'retro' cars, for this reason i decided that i wanted a something older again - a Metro was out of the question as i was always worried about safety in my old one and this brought me to Volvo... built like a brick shed 8)

My Parent's had three different 340's in the past and my uncle and Grandad also had a couple of 340's and a 2.0i 360 and i've just always loved the character they have about them - it's something that most modern day cars lack.

I have been looking for quite a while and was intending bidding on the 1989 Blueline recently on eBay as it ticked all boxs (bar being near!) but unfortinatley that and others have since sold.. im sure the right one will turn up in time however.

Anyway after all that ramble im finally at my Question; i intend towing with my Volvo once i hopefully get my hands on one :D are towbars hard to get hold of for the 340/360? or do they regularly come up for sale second hand? I am just asking because as far as i am aware towbar suppliers don't sell them new anymore for the 340 or 360 :(

An early thanks to all of you that will take the time to answer and i look forward to finding my own :340: or :360:

Thanks.
Matt.

Hello mate.

There is a 360Glt on the VOC with a towbar for £850 if it's still available.
I'm 99% sure i found a white Glt with a towbar on my searches yesterday, but can't find the ad now.

Whats the matter with the car i'm driving can't you tell that it's out of style?

If you wait long enough, the right car will come along.
Good luck with the search. There are plenty of people here that will help
