Pondering - project ideas

Post by Speedy88 » 18 May 2011 06:03 pm

I have no reason other than I like to build things. I've got the option of getting a second car later this year - probably just to roll around in, realise having 2 cars is stupid and selling at neither a loss nor profit.

So what do I go for? I already have an all-rounder car so I came up with these options:

Volvo Amazon saloon
240 Estate - to be given turbo mods and lowering
90s style mustang - for V8 goodness
V8 pickup truck
mk3 340 1.7 converted to S40 diesel - easy conversion - 120bhp and possible turbo tweaks
mk2 360 converted to a different diesel - more difficult but possibly more power if I use something like a D5.

Ideas? Diesel is good for mpgs, its different from what I have and means I can concentrate on the valver becoming more "performance". But I don't really need it. Just thought it would be different. Always wanted to own a V8 but they are a bit silly for expensiveness.

Oh and outside of this I've also been thinking about 70s Vauxhalls, Hillmans and Datsuns. Despite the scene tax. I'd hate all the unwanted scene attention though.

You don't like cars scene boy. Stop trying to be cool.

Been thinking that. Probably the most expensive one to mod though. Plus a kitten will die if I mod an amazon... So say Practical Classics

240 estate with 940 turbo running gear gets my vote. With some choice suspension modifications and a bit of extra boost they can go well, not as heavy as their dimensions might suggest
1989 - Volvo 360 GLT
1985 - Volvo 360 GLS
2008 - Volvo S60 SE Lux

TBH, as a 2nd car (as you already have a performance car) a standard would probably be fun enough.

Ive been toying with saving up for a 940 HPT drifts wagon, or a ratty amazon. Both have merits.
