Yeah. Luckiliy he got out in time. There might be light at the end of the tunnel though. He said that if the body isn't twisted etc.. he might take the car apart and rebuild it make it even better than it was before.

Crikey, do you know what caused the fire?
I saw a video recently on another forum of a golf with a fire from a turbo that slowly destroyed the whole car.

After seeing it I'm really glad to have a fire extinguisher, and will be keeping it in there.
Do many other people here have extinguishers, and are they fixed anywhere? I hate doing anything ireversable to the car like fixing an extinguisher bracket, so it's in the rear footwell behind the drivers seat

OOOOOPS. That sucks
~3 bar of fuel pressure loose = fire...and quickly. 3psi of fuel pressure on the loose is scary enough, never mind ~45psi!
I do have a fuel line running through a metal hoop, which I probably ought to line with something less 'cutting'. I also ought to replace the fire extinguisher I used to carry.
That golf was sad simply because it happened so slowly, but they were powerless to stop it. It was the turbo overheating the materials surrounding it.
cheers

Ah, smugness denied due to VOC board linking-badness....
Will this work...?

You can clearly see it's not a B30 there...for some reason the manifold in the picture here looks like a 6-runner one.
DAMN I want an Amazon

That's (hopefully) where my B200'RS' is going when I put a B200FT in the 360

Yes, I know they take pushrod motors normally...

That's a very good point...which I knew really...damn addled brain! Anyway, I don't pay too much attention to this ancient pushrod technology...I mean it's almost as bad as a B14! (He says, with a very hefty

....I'd LOVE a 164 really, and an Amazon, even though I'd do the OHC swap).
