Honest advice, am i being unreasnoble?

Ok i sold some lowering blocks on here, The guy paid the exact price of the item via paypal and left me to pay the paypal fee's which i let off as a sign of good will etc, Ive had to go to sea and left my folks to post the item last friday. The guy is saying he hasnt recieved his item and wants a refund. Now i sent two items that day and the other guy recieved his item ok, I have proof of postage that i sent it second class although tracking number as the guy didnt pay anything extra for postage. How do I know the guy has or hasnt recieved the item? should i issue a refund? I dont wanna be a pain in ass but the guy didnt asking for recorded delevery and i obviously dont know him?

Seems ok to me dude, I've dealt with you too and you were honest with the price and condition. Plus our exchange involved a lot more money than some lowering blocks. How long has it been since sending? Could just be taking a while...

they were sent last friday so that is a possibility..

i can understand why the guy is a bit upset as i was away and took ages to organise getting them sent but both me and my folks back on land work long hours but he wanted a refund very quickly which has made me a bit suspect. i know he is a member on here so if people dont wanna say anything i understand its just im a moody bugger sometimes and i dont wanna be to harsh or too easy.

thank you guys. i do feel bad as i like people to be happy dealing with me etc but this is the first time ive ever sent a item and its not arrived! selling stuff is far to hard

Ok, any ideas how to resolve this? as me and the buyer are going around in circles and im getting p'eed off with it if im honest!

Fact is, packages get lost, some get even stolen, it can be that package itself is arrived, but note has disappeared (happens about 15% of times with me, so I know to go ask post office directly).

Because such is the case, contact post office tell that package was lost, guy never did receive it, wave your receipt on air and act like a hooligan, they might then do checking if the package was picked up. Packages should be signed before giving out, I believe and proof of that should be at other guy's post office if such has happened.

Note can be delivered to wrong address and evil person can collect it as they hardly check ID. If such is the case Police should be noted even they won't get anything done to it at least that gives chance to bitch about Police.

Something along those lines, details in your country might differ, but I believe principle is same everywhere.

Not sure what ebay policy is, there are no specific laws covering it like business sales. I think of the top of my head it might be that you are responsible to get the item to him, since you can claim from the post office. If the item is more than the claim amount allowed for the postage you used then you probably should have used a signed for and higher claim service. Normal postage usually allow up to £35 or so.

I think ebay/paypal insist on a 2 week period at least before you can make a claim using their dispute system, read up their system, it will give some guidance.

I'd say, get him to hold on and check with his post office, he has no reasonable right to demand immediate refund. If it doesn't turn up in whatever time is stated, after you have both exhausted all possibilities then consider a refund. You may need something from him to use to claim from the RM so check with them too, maybe your emails are enough, but you will need another one after the 'reasonable period'.

Normal postage usually allow up to £35 or so

Standard post: get a receipt or certificate or posting.
RM won't entertain a lost claim until 15 working days have passed.
Compensation is limited to the equivalent value of 100 1st Class stamps, which was 45 quid. I guess it will soon be £60.

i will do that then. sounds a good plan, ill be in touch with royal mail and claim off them..if i get refunded im happy to pass it on to the buyer
