I've seen this in person today (just before those photos were taken I assume) and it really is as nice as it looks in Ben's photographs! Stunning example :D

I don't know on what other models they did it, but I remember a mate's Toyota Carina II had a "Moonroof".

Mines sealed by an eerie mystical vacuum. You close it, pull a handle, and it goes Pppppppppppsssssshhhhhh. Which I find delightful.

I always feel sad when I look at VND's fuelly, but at least yours makes me feel better again MP! Should really link mine in too.

Would be interesting to have a page running on stock and modified 300's, track their MPG's

I was getting pretty damn good mileage out of the 360 before I pranged it. I did a spurt to Swindon and back and got an estimated 30+mpg*. I was seriously impressed. Carb is set up just right on that thing.

*I did that from the amount of additional mileage I made from that tank plus what the fuel gauge said added up. Not that they're accurate at all.

Update!

The old girl has been very well behaved, so I treated her to some new ear rings.

The old wing mirrors were fastened tight at the mountings, but vibrated on the arms?! plus the glass vibrated in the housing too, giving a very shakey rear view.

So I picked up some coded aftermarket affairs. Sure a lot of folk will frown upon them, as theyre not OEM, but I like em. They have a smaller, sleeker surface area, so aerodynamically, I guess Im making about an extra 25hp with them fitted.

A conservative estimate I'd say

Mirrors are tough subject, there are cases where clearly larger mirror has worked better aerodynamically than smaller ones, wind noise might be tell tale of how it is.

Problem is that at base of windshield there is high pressure area, air then moves to side from there, right where mirror is, so for mirror it is not necessarily air coming from front that makes most drag, but air that runs along the mirror surface and that kind of pushes air coming from front to side, so sometimes it is most important to have right curvature along mirror instead of smallest size.
Of course this varies case by case and is almost impossible to eyeball, so it can help, it can not help, if wind noise is less, then it probably helps.

I can't find any kind of difference with my mirrors.
