Pug Life: 2. 309 + sassy plastic ear rings

Post by volvosneverdie » 10 Jun 2012 10:06 pm

Hello all,
having decided that a non turbo diesels am the future of mankind, I went on a mission for a decent one.

So after getting busy with the ebay, lager, and a 350 mile round trip to collect, I ended up with this:

One and point nine litres of french slow.

Its the slowest thing since sliced cheese, but its averaging mid 50s MPG, nearly 60 on a run. So Im happy with the cheaps!

In fact Im happy with it all round. Its comfortable, not perticular loud, and cheap to run.

120 odd K, but feels tight enough.
Leather chairs.
Keep fit windows.
Keep fitter steering.
Its got the lot. Kind of.

First job was to swap the wheel for something that gives a bit more leg space.
Bring on the dish!

Do not want^

^ A drift wheel?? in a fwd naturally aspirated diesel??? Yes. :D

^thats much better.

Then gave it a good clean, inside and out, and applied a few pointless stickers.

Then I decided the arch gaps were too terrible to endure, so I ordered some 205 coilovers and hoped theyd fit. Ulp.

While I was waiting for delivery, we got one nice sunny day so I decided to linseed oil the bumpers to put a bit of life back into the old faded jobs.

The pics don't really do it justice to be honest. Looks so much better than it did.

Then suddenly, COILOVERS!

The coilovers were duely fitted today (cheers John).
Went for a nose downish rake.
Still on 13s atm, so doesnt look super slammed, but the mudflaps do drag hillariously.

Feels a lot firmer now.

Next move is 15" Goodwood Speedlines, or 14" Rallye steels.

Cheers for lookin

Please lower the back! Saw it a couple of weeks ago - a really tidy one! Got me pondering the one on Retro Rides for sale

The speed lines suit these down to the ground, but how about something different - would the 405 mi16 alloys fit? Assume they're the same fitment:

In those pics you ought to get something looked at, it's not quite right - it seems to be idling at half past 11

Looks great mate! Really like these. You need the wheels I had on my pug, 205 speedlines, pretty sure they are the same as the goodwood ones. Goodwood bumpers would look good too! Those seats are gawjus!!

Take it it's tortion bar at the back, heard they are a pain to do, why i never lowed my 206

Yeah dude. I think all old pugs are torsion bars at the back. Need a slidehammer/puller affair and I cant be arsed either.

Goodwood wheels are just like the 205 ones man, but they have a pollished lip.

as seen here:

my 205 ones had a polished lip too when i was finished with them :D peugeot 'cossak grey' paint for the centres

Saying that my ones were 'SMR Replicas' which meant they were exactly the same but were 0.000000001 KG heavier or something according to the folk on the 206 forum

I like the nose down look! Since I put another set of springs on Fake I've got the inverse of constantly accelerating, looks horrible!

I've been following the MPGness of you too, not at all jealous...

(Parcel arrived Sat too ta, my neighbour grabbed it but I still have a red "we missed you" card. I'm now thinking I need some ID with the new surname

That was John, pushing it at 80mph because he was late to meet you!

I dont drive fast enough to even give a fly a sore head.
