It's not all roses here, tax on that 1595cc would be €478 for the year, so there is absolutely no intention to swap in a 1.9 as that would bump it up to €626. Petrol at the minute is about 10c/litre dearer, so I'm going to have to do some miles to save against the 106 (with the wheezy tax-buster 954cc @ €185pa).

I've got to do some work repainting the underside of the boot floor, starting to get very flaky at the back (rest of the car fine), so need to de-rust and whack some paint on to keep the NCT man happy. I just thought it would be easier to have the bumper out of the way, and to drop the axle.

1.56€/l here with 580€ taxes per year. Diesel has gone down a bit as it was nearing 1.8€/l at winter (petrol was over 1.9€/l), we have ridiculous prices here even at our country's scale.
Veggie oil is something over 2€/l and LPG is non existing here, it is southern thing.

Now with added 106 Rallye Steels.
Nice bit of dish, and "in keeping".
Couldnt get many pics, as the exhaust promptly snapped between the middle section and back box. Which carved a nice gouge in the tarmac till I could fins a safe place to stop.
God bless the lad at North East MOT Centre, Union Rd, Byker, as he bodged me a get home repair with no other payment than a smile and a handshake.
Will get some more snaps when it has a functional pipe.

There was 4 steels, a trolley jack, a compressor, sundry tools in the back when I took those two pics tho dude.

Torsion bars are easy enough, just need to remove the torx bolts from either end of both bars and jack the trailing arm up to desired height and bolt it back together (its a crude but effective method)
To clarify, the xu9 is deemed better than the 2.1 for its 'eagerness', the long stroke on the big lump make it less willing to rev.... and yes, there was a dodgy batch of 1.9s from ~98, they were fitted with weaker rod pins from the n/a and they used to snap and throw rods out the side. Most of these were recall or have long since expired
I miss my 306 d turbo, nothing like a car you can tune with a spanner both, Lucas and Bosch pumped engines can be tuned with an Allen key, the Lucas just requires draining the fuel from the pump and primer afterwards.

Being French, and in my possesion, there have been some issues with this tart. There always are when I go french.
So far, its had:
x2 New Driveshafts,
New exhaust middle section,
New Exhaust back box,
x2 New Wingmirrors,
x2 New Rear Shocks,
x2 Front Coilovers.
And some wheels/tyres etc.
I havnt had it 3 month yet!
Good news is I treated it to fresh oil,filter, air filter, fuel filter, had the tracking done.
In thanks, it just returned 58.1 MPGS on a 400 mile round trip to Chester.
Its a lot more punchy and eager after the service too.
Think the fuel filter on it was the origonal.
