2.3 Turbo drift 360

Post by Ade » 29 Sep 2012 10:54 pm

Hi there,

Been into drifting and Volvos for a while now, but only just combined the two for the first time...
Got myself a ready turbo converted 360, and I'll be taking it to Crail tomorrow!

So far we have swapped the wheels to 14" BBS (also got 15" e30 BBS which will replace them next).
Then fitted a huge cooling fan and new thermostat.

2.3l turbo 740 engine b230fk
td04-11g turbo
Hydraulic handbrake
Front cut springs
2" rear blocks
Bouncy shocks
Huge front mount intercooler
Boost gauge and separate rev counter
Manual boost controller
Welded diff
big k&n style filter
cosworth fuel pump
16" electric fan
Crappy exhaust and silly bike can
Awesome blue velour OAP spec interior

Time to cram in a huge fan....

With co-owner Stuart's V40 and my 960.

With my Chrysler Horizon on the wheels it came with. (set of 6 Minilights for sale!)

Decent selection of drifty wheels:
minilite 13" wheels
BBS MX5 14" wheels
BBS BMW 15" wheels
Rover 25 15" wheels!
Megane Coupe 15" wheels

To be honest though I bet you lot will probably know more about the car and its spec that I will!
So any pointers are much appreciated.
Oh yeah, and the sodding clutch is slipping in 4th right before its first drift day

Do you know what size fan is on the rad? Whats the temp like while driveing about normal? The clutch slipping all the time or when pushing it? Maybe turning the boost down abit would help till you get the clutch done, it will still drift well enouugh, mines still at standard boost and goes well enough

Nice cars! Cool 360 and I like the Talbot. How much did the 360 set you back?

I skid my 360 with a standard engine so feel free to rack the boost down slightly if you've got heat issues

Thanks for the comments!
Love the 960, ideal comfy work & tow barge.
The Horizon is a little beauty! Slowest thing ever, but I love it!

Had the 360 out at Crail on Sunday.... total handful on the knackered suspension. I was managing it, but proper sweating through it all!
No cooling issues now with the new fan and 'stat, plus the clutch is ok below 4th gear.
It is a shared car, and my mate who was up (and a total noob) struggled massively though..... Looks like I may be getting outvoted, in favour of E36 ownership again.

Image

A shame, as with some sorted suspension and some other mods I bet it could be epic. But as a budget shared car, between me and 2 learners it may not be the right thing....
We'll see.....

Hard to judge the quality of my skidding in stills, but one handed composed stuff now and again!

Here's proof that I can drift though... :P

Really not been enjoying the BMW we bought, so the 360T came out again!
Took it up to Crail on Sunday, put the Minilights back on, and in the wet it handled so much better!

Now considering keeping and modding it..... So a few questions for you guys....

Landy 90 rear shocks? Anyone got a link to the correct ones? Nothing else do-able here on a budget?
Uprated front springs? Where from?
Front shocks? Anyone got a guide to refilling them with gear oil? Or a link to uprated shocks?
Clutch? Is it a lot of labour to get done?
Also I'm told this is running a 360 disc, and 940 pressure plate. Anywhere I can get them separate?
Anyone got a spare reverse light lens for the O/S? Mine fell off!

Also meant to say, I think it's a 16" fan, and yes it is the MnM converted car.

Now where can I get me these bits above?
Driftmoto's website seems not to be working.... was it there that was selling any spec custom springs for £60 a pair?
