Hi gents, just joined your forum as I have an interest in 300-series cars. I'm from Durham and have a couple of 400-series turbos so I am a member of the 480 forum.

Occasionally I get a little jealous of the RWD over this side of the fence so decided to join up, as I have a B18FT engine sitting in the garden not doing much. I would love to get a project started using this or maybe a 2 litre turbo from a 940 but due to work I don't have lots of time. Just a dream at the moment but anyway here I am.

Cheers!

James

Welcome! good to see someone there are still more people out there who appreciate RWD cars, even though they own a FWD. i have got the best of both worlds (oh look, my bell, i shall ring it :) ) having two turbo 850's and two 360's. all i can say is, buy a 300! you won't regret it :) especially with that 18ft you have.

Good to see you over here chap! Have a look around, there are a couple of B18FT ones as project threads on here, though normally LHD due to the brake master cylinder.

Hi and welcome, what 400's have you got? I've got a turbo 440 (off the road since 2007ish) needs a bit or work to tidy it up.

Hi folks! Thanks for replies I feel welcomed :D 340pw

Logan360...at the end of the month I will try and persaude a guy to part with his 360 2.0 lite GL. If not I will be getting his 460 turbo instead....wish me luck either way! I have a V70 R also love the noise of those 5 cylinders

Chris_C...hello again! B18FT is where I am yes! But I could learn about 2.0 litre honest I could!

MCHUDD...thanks, love the dancing cucumber thing

Hell Driver.....I have a 480 turbo on the road, and a parts car (off the road). Plus MAYBE a 460 turbo on the way

L!4NMP & Nimminz.....wotcha! Yep, born in Sunderland then lived in various villages in County Durham for most of my life.

Since there is a few folks from up North on this forum, is there any interest for meeting up at York Raceway some time this year? I asked the same question on the 480 forum and a couple of guys showed an interest....see my posts below for some details.....

Due to working too much I'm not sure which dates I will make it, but I have a plan to get down there at some point. Just as soon as I sort out the boost solenoid on the 480....just won't stop boosting sm2 ....don't want to tread on anyone's toes..do you have regular meetings?

Anyone can organise a meeting whenever they want, don't worry about it. Stick a post in the calendar section.

I'd like to come, a few of us do Santa Pod every so often. I used to give Nancy American Straight Line Racing a lot of abuse for not having corners and being interesting, but since I got dragged along one day I'm pretty hooked, the Pod has a really great atmosphere.

Plus, you get to put expressions like this on supposed M5 owners faces ;)

Have you done any quarter mile-ing in yours? I'd be interested to know what time a Robou'd 480T could do

Great photo! I like the fact that the guy in the Volvo is leaning back it little ("this is easy"), while the guy in the BMW is leaning forward to try and go faster ("Nein! NEIN!! Mein Auto ist noch teurer!"). Is it you Chris making this straight line racing look so relaxed?

OK then, I will shout up when I know what my working pattern will be...maybe one of the May bank holidays

As for a quarter mile from the 480...er....nothing offical. According to the interweb the official time should be 16.6 secs, although mine is an auto. No matter it will be easier to tow home if the 'box falls to bits.

Yeah, thats mine/me. There's nothing to get stressed about, there are no corners to fall off ;)

Hi again folks!

I'm sorry to say that I failed in my attempts to get the back wheels driven as opposed to the front. I called down to Banstead on the way home and the 300-series motor had gone to the dealers son. Good for him, bad for me :(

Plus I missed a nice one on eBay not long before this trip. I put an offer in just above asking price and still didn't get it. Hard work getting hold of a good example now I see, didn't realise just how hard!

Anyway, it seems that I have turned into one of those dreamers no doubt you see regularly trot accross the pages sm6 sm6 ....no matter as a consolation when arrived in Banstead there was a shiny old 460 turbo so my day wasn't entirely spoiled.

"Why are you posting us stuff about the FWD dark side??" you ask. Well, just to keep you informed about my plans for a visit to York Raceway - still moving along...albiet slowly cos I haven't sorted my working schedule out yet...link below to thread....

Ray the 460 has been fitted with Robou modified ECU and is fairly nippy even though it is an auto. Not sure about 15.7 secs Chris, but I will give it a go :D

Cheers guys (and girls even),

J

When Fake is out and about again I'll be doing more NALSRing, would be well up for an inter model/inter forum trip.

460 looks good! Not my cup of tea, but Mum had a mk1 440 which I really did like. '91 Paris Blue GLEi SE
