Hello there! Volvoist, no 300 series as of yet...

I'm new to this site. I bought a set of 15" five spokes off a V3M member in Kent when I owned a 480. His barn was full of 300s, and I think he said one had a Nissan SR20 engine. He went by the name of 'cherryturbo' on eBay.
I love Volvos. I have two already, a 1966 121 Amazon and a 1990 460 Turbo. The latter might be the earliest left in the country, as it was registered in November 1990. For bonus points it appears to have come from the same area as my Amazon [YO].
Couple of pictures for you:
Amazon, before it was restored and my wallet fell over and died. It's going to a specialist in Crewe in early April so I can get it back on the road.
460 in the snow somewhere on the Woodhead Road. If anyone has a phase 1 leather interior for it, please speak up! I can't find one anywhere!
I would really like a 340 or a 360 GLE \ GLT to complete the set ! I don't have a massive budget but the 300s are really beginning to appeal to me.
Here's a shot of a pair of 300s I spotted at the Santa Pod Retro Show in 2011. I think one of them belongs to Speedy88, who's definitely on here.

Welcome! Sure you'll fit right in with a collection like that. I'd seen pictures of your 460 on the VOC before and while I'm not normally a fan, the colour and wheel combination looks great. The Phase 1's are starting to look pretty retro now, it's just a shame it might be too late!! The silver 300 is Speedy's old car and the blue 340 is Chris_C
Check out the 360 GLS on ebay at the moment. (It's also in the for sale section here). Firstly it's a fantastic colour, secondly it looks in pretty good shape!

It's already in my watch list. It looks superb, but it's going to go out of my price range, I can guarantee it.
I PM'd two of the folk on here selling 360s at the moment but haven't heard anything back. Ho hum....
The 400s are pretty under-rated cars. The 480 will end up as a minor classic and the 40\60 series will end up withering away to nothingness. I've just fitted a MOMO Daytona to mine and it's a massive improvement on the bus-like thing previously installed!

Given that your 460 has Vegas, I'm pretty certain I can tie up the username on the VOC

Yes, the blue 300 in your pic is mine.
What sort of thing do you want the 300 for? The parts availability is worse than the 400 (though as a scene, we've started getting some parts re manufactured) but the 360 at least shares engine parts with the big bricks. I've always prefered 40s, but I'm strange.

Nice to see another 400 Turbo owner on here, mines not on the road though, I came back over to the dark side after running it for a few years, just couldn't keep away from the 300

The parts availability is
worse than for the 400s? Christ - I'm struggling to get certain engine parts for that 460 as it is - Volvo themselves couldn't supply a starter motor [had to go to GSF and they got it wrong, twice], gearbox dowels or a clutch cable. The early 440\460 door mirrors are
spectacularly fragile and hard to find, too. In two years mine's needed a new alternator, starter motor [the Turbos kill these for fun because of their location], a clutch pedal pin and a battery.
I'd like a 300 for a bit of sliding [yes, the 'd' word] and a bit of general classic motoring. A 2 litre would be the best for me - I'd like a bit of poke.
Although I'm surprised at the parts situation - the 440\460 are hard to get parts for because they have a very small following other than folk who want a snotter.
I am interested in the two 360s for sale here - but haven't received a reply.....

It's not due to the following, so much as the factory the car was made. Starters, they are common to an awful lot of things, I wouldn't be stressed about those just yet, same with alternator (look at Meganes etc next time you need something engine shaped and are struggling). Mirrors, yup, thats a pain as it's unique.
360 makes a lot of sense if you want to play with it, drive train wise you'll save yourself a lot of hassle!

Eerm - we know the same people, I think - but we don't know each other.
Here's a shot of your car at the last Beach Party. I turned up in my C4 diesel because my 460 was in use at the time by my mate.
Some more of my other Volvos, and Volvos past:
Recording a blistering 16.8 second quarter - enough to beat an 8v Golf GTI Mk2, anyway.
480S I bought to strip and then binned.
480ES that's now in Scotland.
460 Turbo two days after I bought it.
Amazon in storage.
Amazon at my old storage place.
480ES at University.
Couple of things:
1. Is the new Photobucket really crap, or is it me?
2. Why won't the bloke with the green 360 reply? He must be really busy.....
