Ow-doo? Newb saying Hi

Hello all V3Mers, been a bit of a lurker but though I'd register.

(While the Mrs wasn't looking, as "Another forum" isn't a constructive use of my time... Aparrently!!)

Anyway, I've seen a few familiar names bounding about on here, so a couple of you may have seen mine around on a couple of others.

For those who don't know me, I'm Steve aka Doingitsideways aka Volvo-forum-whore!! ;)

Not currently got a 300, but been thinking of getting one for a while... Ideally a 360 on carbs... Mmmm... Carbs!!

On my current fleet is:

a 960 D6 (Used to be a 24v, now runs a d24tic) This is my work bus.
An S80 T6, for long distance hooning and general tyre shreading lunacy.
A 480 2.0 Celebration, gotta love pop-up lights and a digital dash... Right??
A 460 1.8 GSi, the pub car, sometimes gets left for weeks!
Oh, and a 2.8i Capri, long term project/pension. Ran out of time and money about 7 years ago :(

Anyway, hope to be here for a while, and more importantly, get on a 300 soon!! :340: :360:

Welcome to the forum Steve.

My dad still has your old red 240 estate and after doing a few jobs has been a great car but still not got around to fixing the speedo :!:

Most 360's are carb engine and I have manifolds for converting to twin webbers.

Well, I never knew you were Mike's son!!

Yeah, I sometimes miss that 240.

Hilariously slow and a mega miler, but it had an engine rebuild not all that long ago if memory serves.

It was a good bus, but having nearly killed me when the diff spat it's guts out at 80, only to thank me for repairing it by lunching the gearbox, I'd had enough!

Every cloud and all that though... The 240's replacement was a diesel 940 and the engine from that now resides in my 960, so all's well that ends well ;)

Well, if I ever get my arse into gear and get a 360 and a mortgage for a good pair of Webers, I'll give you a shout for something to hang them off the side of my head with :)

How is your dad anyway?

Ask him if he's posted my stereo from the 240 yet!

Lol

Ha ha ha!!

Cheers lads.

Ironically, two of you are on VOC where there is a thread in the Showroom with the run down of the car... Not paying attention?! ;)

Yeah, I do love the 480, or "Nipper" as he's called.

Probably had it about a year now, completely standard when I bought it (for 2 bags of Chipsticks and an empty fag packet... Pretty much!)

Just the small matter of driving from Manchester to Aberdeen to collect it, my god that was an expensive day - S80 T6 with your toe down = MEGA thirst.

Drove up with my Dad and he followed me home.

Anyway, it looked like this:

Fast forward about 6 months and the Taurus wheels came up for sale about 5 miles away, went to have a look and found that thet even had servicable tyres - 2 Proxes and 2 Yoko Peradas, all for the princely sum of £80!

Had some paintwork done, and the chin spoiler added.

In progress:

Then came a set of these:

So now it looks like this: :D

Anyway, I'm sure that's enough polluting V3M with what rolled out of the plant next!! ;)

Chin spoiler makes a huge difference! The 480 also suits the latter wheels much better :)

Hi all.
Funny how a car can get better looking as it gets older :D :D :D
Cheers Mark.

Sometimes you are best off cutting your losses on a car when it is sending messages like that!

My dads not to bad but still being his forgetful self. What was the radio exactly so I can make sure he gets it back to you.

I did have a 480 for a while but when the clutch went I decided to pass it on rather than mess around fixing it. The usual thing of jambing up due to a spring coming out of the friction plate.

Ask him if he's posted my stereo from the 240 yet!

I'll try and dig out some pics of the Capper and get 'em up :)

Dai, I was only joking about the stereo. I can't even remember what it was, some sort of single-shot CD most probably. Long since replaced, lol

VND, how do you mean it looks familiar? Am I missing something?! Mmm...
