Manifold gasket, engine bay scrub, degrease, cd player, manifolds cleaned till shiny, carburettor cleaned and gasketed, all cleaned lots. and cleaned extra-more.

Tappets do need doing after all.
oil and filters next, I'll let it settle down a bit too+retighten+retune after a few blasts....

Has anyone got a manual to the weber 32 dir, I know something is wrong with it still but I can't figure it out, an exploded diagram would do..

Thing is the throttle isn't closing totally, I can push the throttle to close it manually, then it idles, but as soon as I've pressed and released the accelerator it sticks at 1200rpm again, I've adjusted everything, slackened the cable, shortened the linkage, adjusted the 2nd throttle cam follower, soaked it in wd40 and brushed it clean, tightened down again after a few heat cycles, made another carb gasket with loving care that took 3 hours to cut  - everything.

All I can think is the carb has a bent 'something'.
Studying the diagram and/or manual should have me sorted.

It's ticking over really steady though when I force the throttle closed 8)

(bogbasic) The service history has 2 new receipts in it 340pw

Are you absolutely certain that it is not the cable?

Sorry about poor quality pic, but if you click the pic, it should open enough big so one can make out what is what in pic.

:grumpyoldarsemodeon:

Honestly. Why do we bothing sticking stuff in the technical section when Can't Be Arsed, cannot be arsed and LOOK in it?

There are Volvo factory manuals in there AS WELL AS a COMPLETE guide to the 32DIR!

Talk about a mega-fail.

my pc has no internet.
Cba does not mean that.
I hate presumption and prejudice, particularly when concerted to execrate.

Thankyou.

Seriously, you're quitting over that? You should know by now that macplax speaks his mind at all times. He means it constructively at least rather than just having a go. Are you able to deal with arguments in the post office or in public in general? Jeez.

You're a regular on here CBA. It's my usual posting style. You may be familiar with it, you may be not. Either way, ignore it if you don't like tone of it. Personally I think the slight giveaway that it wasn't an entirely serious rant was the preceding ":grumpyoldarsemodeon:". If I was being a proper grumpy old arse, I wouldn't have bothered posting.

Despite it being 2.30am, I'm going to make some useful suggestions.

a) go down to the library / internet cafe / mate's house, download THIS PDF and print it off.
b) contact "mac" of this forum and ask him nicely to send you a paper copy of his 32DIR guide. He's usually in a better mood than me and I don't have enough stamps here.

Speaking freely is good.

It is shitty, this arse mode.

Your insight is deficient.

Your grammar is good tho so not a total loss.

I feel better.

thanks jtbo, that's exactly what I wanted.

This chocolate cellphone can't open a big pic without pretty much reprogramming it, which is a nice challenge.

Cant upload pics of my 'bran spanking old' carb and manifold either :(

I can take part of pic and enlarge that one section if you need, also here is direct link to pic, which may or may not work with your phone:

I think that your phone might be able to share internet to your pc too, but it might need some sorcery and wizards, pc would then need walls and fences as well as bug patrols, but still might be doable without too much of hazzle, however you would need some lad with bottle bottom glasses to do all that wizard stuff.

Wizard guide to magic is however as follows:
1) install phone's software to pc so pc knows to talk with phone
2) phone should be connected with cable to pc
3) from phone some sort of tethering should be enabled.

One slight issue might be that software is found from internet, specific to specific phone, which must be downloaded to pc which does not have the internet, it is issue with similarities to when one locks keys inside to car, instead of picking the lock one needs vessel of some sort like usb key, to transfer software from pc that has internet to your pc.

If you spot those vandals again, they might be able to do it, but how to convince them to do something constructive instead destructive might be more challenging than wizard stuff, but maybe there are decent student lads that might be at local pub and interested from free pint in exchange of some wizard work.

How many colours is this car? It changes every hour. Stainless, Gold, Gunmetal, Silver, Chrome, Bronze, Zinc!
It has faded a bit since I first got it.... here it is gleaming in the leafy lanes of Dorset in 1998, but after 15 years people say it is looking a bit more on the bronze side.

Damn, she looks good there :P

I've got the greenbook printed out now, technology is smiling upon me today.

I'll be doing the welding this payday, will paint with colourmatch, then once all the dents and all the welding is done I'll be looking in to getting it resprayed. That pic is a challenge to attempt as I see it.

All killer, no filler. 340pw

Btw, bogbasic, this car drives like a jag - Smooth as you like.
