Congrats to KevGLT

Post by V6 Man » 01 Aug 2005 09:03 pm

Congratulations to Kev Devine for coming 2nd in the 300 class at the VOC Northern BKV at Malton last weekend.

Ted Brown came 1st (as usual), but Kev managed to see off competition from George Mitchell's (Friends of the 300) 340 1.7 and the colour co-ordinated 340 seen at the VOC National (pic below). John 360 did not show his car due to being part of the organisation and thus caravanning there for the weekend.

Like a complete twattock I forgot to take my camera with me so the only pic I have was taken with my phone.....

Congratulations!

What's the "bump" on the roof?

It's the color coded sun-roof. That is the original-Volvo one.

I thought that slide under the roof instead of over the roof...

You're right indeed, but may be there were more roofs available. Or may be it's reflection of the red car and being a normal glass sunroof...:?

Mine is aftermarket, but the first move it makes is 'tilt mode' and when you move it further it slides back, but in the same way as 'tilt mode'

Ah now I see it... the red thingie at the back is probably some reflection and a piece of scenery...
It looked like it had a higher roof....

Well done Kev, I see there are different, more interesting (Mk2?) alloys fitted now instead of the Mk3 alloys!

Definitely not pink!

Very nice car. I think I'll have to raise my game a long way to compete

cheers

Yes, Kev's car is a beauty - it's only done about 66k with one very careful previous owner - a real credit to them both & it's still my favorite colour !!

I didn't have mine there as it threw a leg out of bed, which turned out to be the flywheel sensor. I thought it was Mr Renix (thanks again Kev for letting me try a few bit's on yours sm4 ) at first, but tried one from a 1.4 I got from a s/yard on saturday & he fired up with a load of smoke(unburnt fuel) !! Got a new one from the local stealership for £29 yesterday & fitted it last night. If anyone needs a renix, I now have a spare for sale.

On this subject, George Mitchell also came on sunday with a 500mile round trip (nice to see you again !) & said that he'd run a 360GLT with a 1.4 renix & said it flew - I will try this in mine to see if there's any difference ?

Kevin's heater blower has also packed up altogether - are there resistor's in the later ones ?

TTFN,

John :360:

Btw, have finally got round to fitting those monroe air-shocks. Certainly helps firm the rear end up - rises about 2in with 110psi in.
Current : No 300's anymore !

Yes, all had the resistors.

George mentioned the B14 Renix in a GLT to me on the phone a few days ago. Presumably it has a more aggressive ignition curve (the later ones probably have tame timing for economy and emissions), but do be careful...they're mapped that way for a reason. By all means try it, but I'd go for a run on a dyno to confirm that you're not suffering from the onset of pinking. Alternatively, running 98 octane (Optimax, Ultimate, etc) will give you more headroom.

We know there's plenty of scope for tuning in the B200, so I'm glad to see people tinkering!

cheers
