I think as a store if information and detailed threads of work on cars the forum is vital. But for quick look at what people are doing 'now' facebook is better.

Also the language on here is a bit better judging by yesterdays posts on FB!

Horses for courses I suppose.

And don't forget the facebbok page is titled 300mania so I expect people know the forum is here as well and look even if they don't register or post maybe?

Hell Driver wrote:I use the facebook page but don't post much if at all at the moment. It all just seams to vanish into a black hole after a few days anyway. I can see it being usefull to sell stuff and let people know what you up to that instant though. I see people from here on it plus lots of new ones that not on here, its good to see what they are doing.

What I hate is the way it all appears on the screen a bit at a time and I have to scroll up and down, very irritating and a bit of a jumble when trying to find somthing from a couple of days ago.
You've summed it up pretty well. FB is great for what's happening "right now", but as an archive it's pretty rubbish. Give me a good, structured forum any day :-)

The reason for fewer posts is almost certainly fewer drivers as well. A few years back there were many more cars in daily use.

The "V3M new posts" bookmark used to be the first thing I clicked on in the mornings :-) But free time has been getting less and less, workload increasing, the family taking up more time (which is fine by me!) and so on.

Since the new forum was down, a lot of my old threads seem to have gone :-( Not quite sure how get hold of them again, so I can PM Aymat about them.

Cheers

Tom

I had the same problem, some of my threads had gone. I asked Aymat and he quickly put them back!
Now all the missing ones are here in the technical forum section:

#Old category, to sort out and delete after#

I'm pretty sure nothing has been lost as yet, there's just a lot to sort through to put in new places. I'm assuming that now they are back to be found by search function again.

That's another factor I hadn't thought about Tom, of course in the last 5 years since I've been on here there are probably less cars about and less in daily use. The remainder are only either used at show or meets. Others are being drifted and only appearing on FB. But then again many keep turning up after standing in sheds, garages and gardens for 20 years :P surely that must add to the numbers or at least keep up with scrapping?

When the forum was at its peak most of the cars were daily driven as an odd old car that was worth nothing, some only 99p on ebay!

The few of us that are still on here with a 300 are now only using one as a second car, the younger generation who do daily a 300 are facebooking rather than forum

The loading times are becoming quite silly for me now. Both at home and work, the page loads and there there is a ~10 second "the loading animation isn't going away" period whilst some transparent overlay appears with some moderator tools (I think). I'm hoping that means it's confined to a few of us, but it's really starting to wind me up!

It loads very quick for me. Try it not logged in, I suspect its the moderator tools that are slowing it down

No page speed problems with me either (no mod tools though) ...

No speed issues for me, assume I have the same same mod privileges as Chris? If you're using IE, I'm going to give you a slap.

Chrome, on both. The work PC was running at "normal" speed today, so I'm going to assume my laptop is sad.

What is this book of faces you all mention and what has it to do.with 300s?
I've noticed the forum is quiet but the thread views aren't.

I see a lot of interesting things here, I'll take the time to give my point of view later. @Chris, not slow at all here, even on my oldest computer (Acer Aspire R3610 with Atom 330 1,6Ghz wowww fast lol)
