Recent Article on 300's

Not all together flattering, but then again when did a journalist let facts get in the way of a good story!
Some intersting parts to read, although nothing much new and a few errors.

As usual, the early rally-cross history and recent popularity in drifting circles ignored as they don't fit the story.

Comments/stories at the bottom also interesting.

"Inferior comfort and space utilisation" I can't believe I just read that! 300 seats are the absolute most comfortable seats I've ever sat on. I managed to do a 5 hour drive only stopping once for petrol (how's that for economical) so you can tell this writer has never owned one themselves. The boot is massive and just keeps on going on my saloon and at 6ft 2" tall I can sit in any of the seats in comfort so what are they complaining about space utilisation?

"Subpar road performance" have they thought perhaps they just aren't a very good driver as a 360 can hold it's own against many modern cars and with light fettling will cefinitely have "road performance" also the bad "road holding" I haven't come across, yes it's not the best handling but you can feel when it's at the limit and for small 13" alloys with chinese tyres I thought it was quite good.

By no means was the B19 "squeezed" into the 300 series either.

I wonder if they asked the owner of the photos of the ebay 360 if they could use the pictures.

As Hell Driver said they seem to have forgotten to write all of the good bits of a 300 series as it didn't fit into the reverse rose tint article.

It would be interesting to know if he's driven a GLT in good order.

I think the Golf comparison is a bit silly. I think comparing a 300 to an E30 is fairer, and charts the point where Volvo went off the rails with keeping the 300 competitive as a small 'premium' car (around 1985, IMO), opposed to its descent into being an upmarket Ford Escort rival. For a few years, from say 83-86, they had a pretty decent product on their hands.

cheers
