Greetings from Lithuania, 360 GL - 1986
Hello everyone,
Recently I got a 1986 Volvo 360 GL which I want to make into a low budget drift project.
Here is my build so far: https://picasaweb.google.com/ausavicius/Volvo360GL1986
So far everything goes well apart from a little bug with fuel injection, - when going little bit faster and releasing throttle and after starting to accelerate again engine looses power and needs to be restarted/stalled for a while for it to start running again (no response when pushing gas pedal). I took apart and cleaned the carburetor and it starts and works fine (no gas leak or anything). Now I have fuel pump out of the engine. My question is - is it possible to replace the mechanical pump into electrical one - would it work?
Please leave a comment and I really look forward to all the joys which this car will bring!:)

You have been quite busy welding! You could search for a Hardi fuel pump, those would work.
Keep the updates coming!

lots of welding done there. Looks like you have used some thick plate so it should be nice and strong now.
You are lucky to have a saloon and they do drift that little bit better than a hatch

You cut it all??... ..for the new seat bracket are you planning to weld it or screw it? Anyway that is a really firm looking floor...what is thickness of the metal sheet? I'm planning to replace it as well.

Good news and good progress today, - fuel pump issue is now fixed by replacing original and adapting a new fuel pump from a classic 1.3 austin mini!
Also the new Sparco seat is also in place! Here is how it was done:

Hey,
Here is the last update on my Volvo build:
It appears that fuel pump did not resolve the fuel issue after-all so instead of a stock fuel tank I now run a 20 liter diy fuel tank here is the picture of first version -
- since it proved to work it is now securely installed in the boot.
Also, - since all welding is done time has come to lower the car. In front I have cut springs from toyota mr2 and welded 7cm height blocks in the back:
Finally the car runs, looks how I wanted and can even burn some tires:

Waiting for the first snow to arrive!

Depends where you shop and what you're filling it with.
Diesel is fine, but jobsworths easily get confused between fuel types, as they do the law and company policy

Would it be possible to get a video of the exhaust sound? Really want to hear it
Re: Greetings from Lithuania, 360 GL - 1986
Not entirely an exhaust sound video, but you can still hear it:360beast wrote:Would it be possible to get a video of the exhaust sound? Really want to hear it

Are you try to suck fuel from a carb fuel tank for an injection? You need an in tank pump, or a bottom outlet 10mm dia.
