Mac
Mac has asked me to let people know that he is currently suffering some technical difficulties and is currently unable to respond to phone calls or emails at present. He will let everyone know when he is back up and running, but just in case anyone had tried to contact him and received no response he thought it best to let everyone know the reason. Now, how he managed to get hold of me I've no idea, but this is Mac we're talking about.........

Re: Mac
I do hope he himself isn't suffering technical difficulties. If that is the case, has he tried turning off and back on again?
I do believe that he got hold of you by rather traditional means....

Got permission to post ONE message!
In hospital, nasty nasty diverticulitis, excruciating is a suitable description! (Entry via A&E last Wednesday)
On IV antibiotics and pain relief, sustainance in at the top and 30 secs later out the other end.
Full scale dignity impairment!
Mind you when I start to feel a bit better there's lots of cute medical things to take apart.
Boss says enough - and is unbolting my iPad
Bwah!

Re: Mac
Hmmm.......
When I said Mac was having technical difficulties..............
I actually meant, Mac is having technical difficulties. His phone line and email (provided by that wonderful company BT) are currently suffering from technical difficulties. The bit where I said he cannot receive phone calls and emails meant that he cannot receive phone calls and emails. I meant to explain why, if anyone had being trying to contact him, they'd been unable to get hold of him and that could they be patient and when BT ever got around to fixing his phone line he'd be back in touch. Current estimates are that an Openreach engineer will deign to get off his arse and try to investigate the problem on Wednesday.
Now, it just so happens that this coincided with a spot of ill health on his behalf, but had the daft old sod actually been ok he was still uncontactable. I knew he was currently harassing NHS staff, but he didn't feel that this necessarily needed to be public knowledge.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that this message got taken the wrong way, after all, it was written in English and it was the Irish who misinterpreted it.............!!

Re: Mac
Well at least YOU know what YOU meant Rupert.
Shall I re-phrase your opener to remove the ambiguity?

Now unless I'm Septic Peg, I had no idea on the current health status of our beloved old worm as I last communicated with him around seven(?) weeks ago. My post was however, a shameless attempt at lame IT humour. What he should've wrote:Mac has asked me to let people know that his shonky, fly-by-night telecommunications provider is currently suffering some technical difficulties and consequently he is currently unable to respond to phone calls or emails at present. He will let everyone know when they are back up and running, but just in case anyone had tried to contact him and received no response, he thought it best to let everyone know the reason.
I'll now take this opportunity to express faux offence and go on to point out that I'm Scottish. Last time I met Tom, I'm sure he didn't identify himself as Irish or come across as such and so that leaves Mark, who I didn't ask!V6 Man wrote:I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that this message got taken the wrong way, after all, it was written in English and it was the Irish who misinterpreted it.............!!

Even on this side of the moat I made the link comms with the health issue and not with the copper cable chaps.
Well at least he has the nurses to distract him and let the BT chaps do their work

Re: Mac
That's what I thought you would say, I was just interested to see which order you put them in.
What is rather worrying though, is this talking about yourself in the third person business...
Macplaxton says STOP IT NOW!
Macplaxton would like to know if BT did bother their arse to turn up inside their promised appointment window and did they actually fix the problem?
(Macplaxton used to be with BT Ireland (whose domestic customers eventually got flogged off to Vodafone) and found they were a useless bunch of donkeys trying to blame macplaxton on a login disabled ADSL connection when it was actually the half-wits their end that hadn't enabled the service. Fortunately after that he never had the cause to speak to them again until leaving Vodafone.)

Re: Mac
Well MacP., I am actually more interested in the old mans health than whether or not somebody has bothered to turn up and repair the ....
For that you guys have a tely program in which you can ...... the poor service.

Re: Mac
I was just idly passing the time RJ. Of course we'd all like to hear Mac is better, but until the boss re-bolts the iPad back in his hands (or he well enough to bolt it back in himself) we're not going to.
Now if someone did come round to fix his telephone, the there would be at least be a conduit to the boss to make enquiries as to his well-being.

Re: Mac
KINDER
Fearing for the integrity of "things put together with bolts and screws" the Notional Health Scam has released the Mac into care in the community - ie. I'm home and being ministered to by the long suffering boss.
My suffering is much reduced but IV antibiotics seem to have killed off everything in my digestive system - now begins the great task of replenishing my gut flora and fauna!
My current opportunities to be grumpier than usual are fortunately unlimited!
The coincidental inconvenience perpetrated by Britannia pseudo Telefonica has now also been resolved (from late yesterday afternoon) and calls may now be received again (8 days of peace).
Many thanks for the kind wishes from those who posted (my thanks also for the annoyance to the Devon/Welsh/Sri-Lankan
Faction - always worthwhile) even if it has stirred up internecine bickering - Anglo/N.Irish, Pictish/Bog Dweller, Anglo/Kraut verses the aforesaid Sub Continent carter.
Meanwhile I've treated myself to some retail therapy - ordered a 6L heated ultrasonic cleaning tank - we'll see what that does for carburettor part refurbishment.
Mac.
