new 360 owner + questions

Post by niko98fin » 01 Jul 2016 02:10 pm

ok so i bought a 1984 360 4 door last week, its my second car actually. last couple of years it was used as an winterbeater and have been in a rollover and has also been crashed multiple times. but it does not have any rust.
couple pics i took on my phone:

then some questions:

has anyone changed an windscreen on these, is it just like the rear window (already did that when fixing the roof), or is there some type of glue or clips, my plan was to take a used window off a parts car, i can use my old window seal so could i just cut out the window seal from the parts car?
also do the "mk2" and "mk3" share same windows?

is the door trim just glued on or do the doors have holes under the trim, could i fit "mk3" door to my "mk2" if i just change the trim? are the doors same on a 5 and 4 door version?

I read that 13x7 ET-7 wheels would fit nicely, but do i need to pull the fenders (or is just rolling enough)? also where do people buy wheels, low offset small wheels are super rare. i live in finland so need a shop that can ship here (or if someone wants to sell me some used wheels).

also my current wheels (14") rub on the inside/top of the fenders when hitting larger bumps, what do people do when they lower these/fit bigger wheels). do you just cut a hole in the fenders?

also do the b200 parts fit on the b19 head (this is a b19a and im not a fan of carbs, so could i just fit efi "stuff" from a 740 or 940 with a b200E or F to my b19 engine)

also English is not my first language so I hope you can understand what i just wrote :D

Hi and welcome.

The windscreen is held in with clips at the bottom. You need to move the dash to get at them, its a bit of a job but simple enough if you can locate all the screws.

Outer plastic trim is stuck on with glue and foam tape, difficult to remove but doable. Easier on yours than Mk3.

B200 inlet should fit I think, but I know the carb B200K heads have a water heated manifold and injection doesn't, leaving it open to the air. May need a core plug. Ony 1 water temp on the 360, LH2.4 needs an extra one, rear hole for this may not be drilled/taped.

You should get a 360 injection tank too. Top outlet carb tank is too small and too hard to suck for an injection pump.

Hi and welcome,
The windscreen is held in place by some metal clips that are located behind the dash and the inner trim on the A-pillar.
You have to remove the dash first and then the trim on the A-pillar.
To remove the dash there are 4 screws on the side (in the door opening), 2 screws in the center opening of the radio and 2 screws under the center. To remove those you need to remove rear center console (if present) and front center console as well (do not forget the 1 screw behind the center console, not shown in the illustration).

Awesome motor. Door trims unscrew (note hard-to-find screw at the bottom of front doors; see 1st 6 months of my blog) and then pull-outwards and upwards. Removing door mirror handle is needed, too. I think the answer is 'yes' to your other door-questions and sorry if others have answered already...

thanks for all the help, but i have two more questions.
how to get the speedo cable out of the wheel hub/shock?
if it makes any difference my car is LHD.
how much oil to put in the front shocks? (im filling them with diff oil)
i have never opened shocks before so any tips will help.

The speedo cable just pulls out from the back of the strut, its only held by the friction of the rubber and the cable clip at the crossmember. It can get a bit sticky, so just wiggle it back and fro. No idea about the shock oil.

If I remember correctly Mac did a post on why not to put diff oil in front dampers.
