Apart frome the upholstery; this is some burgundy red plush, with matching carpet and doorcards, which, I think, is not GLT specification. It matches well with the black body color.

Very nice vehicle!

Are we sure this is an '83? Judging by the front wings and the bumpers it looks like an '86> to me.

Note for Mr Plaxton: I did not call it a Mk3!!

Must have been a Friday car

The front is missing the metal trim below the headlights so it might be a later one or an 83 with a facelift.

Looks brilliant! I'm keen to visit next year!

You can get those 14" "GLT" steels here...but they're pretty rare. They might only have ended up here as spares, if the owner didn't want to pay for a 5th Leo. I think I have one or two in my unit, and I've seen another one or two over the years.

cheers

...and some modern FWD nonsense to get me to work...

I find it quite amusing to read how the diesel is quickly dismissed as a frankencar by just looking at the brochures.

Knowing the previous owner, who worked at the Nedcar R&D facilities in Helmond, and the current owner, I have every reason to believe that the car is the real McCoy, even though a GLT version has, in the end, never made it to the forecourt.

At the time this car was built, a lot of strange things were done at the Helmond facilities. I can still remember the 1984 360 an aunt of mine bought in 1987 (she lived on the outskirts of Helmond at that time) that was fitted with a B200K and a Weber carb. For the anoraks amongst is this car cannot be, the B200K only appeared at the end of 85 and was fitted with a SolexZ11. Sadly enough the car got totalled in the late '90 on a roundabout in Heerhugowaard, Netherlands, otherwise it would have ended up in my collection.
Life is a journey, so sit back and enjoy the ride!

You quoted me wrong I said diseasel not diesel

It probably is real then, weird things could be asked for in the 80's.

On my mk2 golf the interior is one I have never seen in person on another car before, it is fitted to a poverty spec 1.3 model which makes it stranger. The only other car I have seen it on was on an Australian mk2 forum and the car was the same colour but a driver spec (gti trim but not engine) 1.6.

The reason I think it's not real is that you can see there's a join on the boot badge after 340 and the start of GLT

I have been to this show for the last 3 years, and it's by far and away the best classic Volvo show *ever*!

It's really not that far to travel, the eurotunnel is cheap, and I can recommend a couple of decent budget hotels nearby.

Absolutely correct, the car is MY87 or so, the steels were IMHO solely MY83
