Just picked up a couple of Volvos and found this site, looks very handy for info.
I've got a beaten up 360GLE with 230,000 Miles on it and my brother has a mashed 340 1.7 and this 'pimp' mint condition 340 1.7 as can seen below, stripped interior, bucket seat, side pipe exhaust
He uses it for drifting mostly
Wondered what sort of normally aspiriated engine transplants are possible, what sort of conversions have people done on here and how were the results?
cheers
Chris

welcome! how is that car lowered?
best thing to put in a 340 is EITHER
renault 19 1.8 16v engine
OR
volvo 1.7 turbo engine from a 400 series.
the renault engine has a bit more umph, and no turbo to faff around with..

Hiya,
Thanks for the info, the car is lowered at the moment just by cutting the springs and bending the rear leaf springs. Brother is in the process of making a coil-over conversion for the car.

That car looks sweet on those rims and lowered like that!! Lowerings next for mine when i get round to it!!!
As for engine swaps the possibilities are endless, but a 2.3 red block is a popular mod into a 360. I'm curently planning a 1.7turbo lump from a volvo 440 turbo into mine. A member on here has one pushing 193bhp doing 14.summut standing quarters.
Cheers Adam

And a standalone fuel management system... not a bad way to spend ten thousand dollars

For a quick and easy swap you could just drop in a 2ltr from a 460.
Not a lot involved, the worst part is fitting the 1.7 sump on.
This is the simplist N/A engine to fit.
Oh the car looks nice.

not really - the renault 19 1.8 16v is just as easy to fit (its the same external shell..)

then the money can be spent on good tyres... or just go steal some bald ones the tyre places dont need, either way it's still gonna tear em apart
