Why does nobody report spam messages?

I do not understand, spam messages have been read up to 16 times and no one reports them, while it is so simple to do.

People please if someone sees or reads a spam message then report it, the sooner it will stop.

For the moderators, the culprits and future culprits, are those who have registered after September 1 and also some who have registered before that date even up to last year and maybe earlier and haven't posted yet.

I put a message up on the facebook page every so often regarding it. Usually gets cleaned up.

Hello

I've been reporting them for the last few days but I've not had a reply from the moderators whom I contacted or the forum owner. I'm going to try some more of the moderators this evening but many have not been seen on here for several years.

[Edit] I've now spammed _all_ the moderators.

Cheers bogs.

We don't get reported post notifications. I'm going to see if that's a setting we can change, but there are a few quite frustrating things about the forum software...! :)

I'm tidying it up now!

cheers

We're sort of fire fighting at the moment, as ultimately the forum software requires an upgrade to protect against a new exploit that these bots are taking advantage of. Aymat is a busy chap with a young family but he's said he should be able to get this done within the next week.

Some one should take a look at the members list and delete / ban a number of "members" that look suspicious or have not posted since they joined the forum [and that can go back for some years], that should keep the spammers quiet for a while.

They can just register new accounts very easily, though. That's why the forum software update is needed.

Cleaning action performed, we lost +/-100 fake members / spammers, including their messages.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Do we need a couple of extra mods here just to help keep on top of the odd spam attack?

Numbers are fine - the issue is that we don’t get notifications of post reports! :-/

Is there someting wrong then with the notifications? I have reported most of the spam postings, that is why I made this thread.

The problem is that when you send a PM, the recipient usually does not get an e-mail alert that they have a PM waiting for them on the forum. If they do not login frequently, it can be a long time before they see your message. Three of the moderators still have not 'received' the PM's I sent a week or two ago.
