Hehe, funny how some things can motivate and others not!

I have a set of middles for your wheels if you want them?

Thanks for the offer, but the ones belonging to the car are hiding behind the passenger seat.

One of the peculiarities of the test here is that wheel trims need to be remove prior to presenting for test.

Perfectly sensible if you ask me.

One of the things that amazes me about the MOT test is that you could, in theory, present a car with one loosely tightened wheel nut per wheel and still have it pass because the wheel nuts are hidden by a wheel trim which the tester is not allowed to remove.

Greetings from Finland to all of you!

Last friday finally got my Volvo 340 B172k. I bought it as as my secondary car for the winter (I'm starting a total makeover for my primary car, VW Golf 3 variant, in the winter). It was dirt cheap and has only 100k km on the clock (60k miles).

It has decals on the sides and in the back it says Redline. Comparing to other Volvo 300's I haven't found anything but red details in the seats and these decals to make it "Redline".

Car is lacking a bit power and doesn't idle too well. I managed to make it idle a bit better with the idle adjustment screw, but it's still "waving" from 900rpm to 1200rpm. Right now I'm guessing there's an intake leak, but I'll have to investigate a bit more this week. Also the car is running at a very rich mixture, but that should be easily adjusted, huh?

Here is attached a picture from last saturday.

All the best,

Tero Korhonen

edit: If anyone has detonation images of that Solex-carburettor, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Tero,

The carb base will likely have warped, they do that :s it's not a horrible job to fix though.

Go to the technical section, v3m how to guides

Then find this post http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... =39&t=9289

Thanks a million, Chris! That helps out a lot, I'll have to check in to that document ASAP.

Best regards,

Tero

These things happen, occasionally one just turns up...

I'm really puzzled by this one Rich, in some respects it looks remarkably clean in some common places (jacking points look great!?), then surprisingly bad in others - A pillars in particular! You'd normally see them both go if one or the other is in a state... Brave.. but I like it :)
