I'm no autobody pro at all but I do treat all the surface rust developing on my 245 with CRC rust converter. So far so good for me. The rust turns kind of shiny and hard and stops developing. I've also coated the underside of my 245 with Fluid Film coating to help prevent, or at the least slow down, rust development. It supposedly pulls moisture away from the metal and leave a protective barrier to prevent or slow future corrosion.

Interesting how here in the North East of the USA our modern cars rust fast due to the road salt but you still see on occasion someone's 30's, 40's, 50's rat rod out all year with zero rot. Good high quality and thick steel.
