Hi there!
My name is Matt and my 360's name is Jakkal. I haven't got much to say about it at the moment other than I've owned it for just over a year and finally joined up to this site.
I'm in Sunshine Coast, Australia.
Instagram: @Jakkal360GLT (

I've joined up to learn more about these cars, what can and cannot be done with them, as well as trying to get a little 3d model of it (3d)printed and painted to match my Jakkal.
Thanks,
Matt.

Great work. Nice one, very! What sort of spec does Jakkal have, e.g. aircon, etc?

Hey all. Sorry for the super late reply. I wasn't expecting any replies truthfully. To tell you some more info about Jakkal
He's a 1986 360 GLT. No air con, no power steering and not a lot of working luxuries.

I'm happy to answer any more questions for the moment, but really I feel the story for Jakkal isn't well written. I don't know much about his history (yet) and I'm going to keep posting updates about him on his Instagram:

Cheers.

I thought that all 300's in Australia came with AC.
Another lesson learned.

Looking good...!
Mine is a 1987 GLT, same spec no air con or power steering, maybe one of the last without power steering....less to go wrong I guess.
I found out a fair bit of history on my car, the owner who bought it new was quite well known in horse racing and went on to win the Horse of the Year show circa 1985-86. Tragically he was killed by a horse in a stable accident a short time after getting the car. I must write up the history in a bit more detail when I get a chance. Cheers Dave

Interesting history! Is yours an 'E' plate Dave? If so yeah it's pretty late for a 360 without PAS. I believe it was the earlier part of '87 when the 3 door 360 was dropped in the UK too, so there are not many E plate 3 doors. I really like the PAS setup as it removes the overly light feel you get from the non-assisted steering at higher speeds.

Jon, Yes I was quite surprised with what I found out. I have the original PDI sheet for the car which had the address of the original owner. A small place called 'Gedling'.... I did some Facebook digging and found a group for the town of Gedling and stuck a post up asking if anyone had heard of the chap.....and that is where I learned all about the guy. I was even provided with his Obituary from the Horse & Hound magazine which included a photo of him, quite an interesting story by all accounts and rare to have that detail. It might also explain the factory fitted towbar - towing a horsebox maybe...? I just need to try and track down the next owner who had it for many years before the chap I got it from...
Steve - Yeah, E plate - my car was delivered August 1987 to Perrys Loughborough, I hadn't realised 3-doors were phased out. It must be quite a late one then. I would quite fancy power steering but it would be a bit of a job to convert. I know where I could get a complete kit but don't really have the time to strip it out and transfer over.
Didn't mean to hi-jack the OP's thread
Cheers Dave

Ah yeah just at the beginning of the reg change.. I've not seen many 'E' plate 3 door GLT's at all. I think the 3 door 360 was phased out around the same time power steering was introduced. It's not too bad a job if you can be bothered/have the parts... but if it's just an occasional weekend car I'm not sure I'd bother with the effort either
Anyway oops... back on topic !

Dave, EPS is feather light and you only have to remove the column!! Slightly too light for driving into big puddles and sudden yanks on the steering wheel which can send you all over the road, but 99.99 % of the time its fine (Mr or Ms Insurer) ;-0

Steve - Yeah, definitely a weekend car and not having it keeps it simpler I guess, less to go wrong or leak fluid everywhere lol I'm having a battle with the gearbox filler plug just now so thats the current problem.
Jon - I think I have read your posts on that upgrade, pretty cool, I must re-visit out of interest. I will be doing a steering upgrade soon though - got the rubber damper coupling to replace
