An interesting find...

Today at my local scrap yard i was looking around for a 340 to get the rear door mechs when I stumbled across a 340 GLE "LIMITED EDITION" saloon in immaculate condition.

Had a bit of a nose and discovered it had full black leather in unmarked, unworn condition, electric mirrors and the ubiquotous econ and air temp gauges, I promptly enquired about buying the whole car but they said no, so they quoted me £75+VAT for the lot, needless to say all the kit is sitting in my mates garage now, waiting to go in my GLT next weekend.

Lesson learned, always look arounbd scrap yards, you never know what you may stumble across!

SNAP! Good work Al, there are some serious finds to be had, it's just such a shame a lot of 300's are instantly crushed as they can't be bothered with them, when there could be so many goodies that we'd be willing to part with money for! I dread to think of how many rare parts, gauges, leather etc items that have been crushed due to the laziness of some scrapyards. And indeed, saloons are the pimp of pimp indeed! By the way, where are the pics of your new GLT Al!?!?

I know, its a shame they get crushed, but in a way if everyone drove 300s they would loose their appeal and those of us that know how good they are guard a well kept secret that the ignorant will never know

...She needs a good scrub up, il post some pics when ive fitted the interior and goodies next wkend.

The prize treasure for me would be the "cash register" fuel computer. If anyone has one or knows of one I would pay good money for it. I guess im not the only one looking for one though LOL
