"Volvos new compact car"

volvo has developed a brand new car, smaller then current models, a sporty car with two doors and 4 seats

volvo planned to release the pics on january 4th, but they have leaked out on volvo spanish press divison (or something...)

the target group is single ppl or couples without children that see the car as a tool to deal with their hectic lifestyle

the boot lid has been shaped partly after the 1800ES and its made completly out of glass.

the front with its low and wide grill underlines the relationship with the bigger s40 and v50, it got 19(!) inch rims

the most inovating is the rear end with its glass hatch, horseshoe shaped taillights and dual exhaust pipes

volvo emphasizes that this car is a designstudy, but its very simular to the production ready car that is going to be shown at the paris autoshow

c30 shares technology with the s40 and v50, wich has been developed with ford and mazda ,yadayada, sporty handling, good safety

the design study in detroit got a I5 turbo engine, 260hp, 350nm @ 2100-5000rpm, 6 speed manual gearbox

one can wonder why volvo focuses on performance when everyone talks about alternative fuels and ****, atleast in sweden

"sporty handling is important to attract customers." says håkan Abrahamsson

c30 is also avible for "normal" ppl that is satisfied with simpler and more fuel efficent engines,
that means 4cyl petrol and diesel engines, including the superefficient 1.6 diesel that only needs 0.5l / 10 km.

volvo says that the audi a3 and bmw 1 series is the main competitors

volvos goal is to increase their sales to 600.000 cars per year, last year volvo sold 456.000 cars. volvo expect the same volume this year

yadayad, to get to 600k volvo needs to broaden their model lineup (the c30 and new c70)

No thanks. I'm with classicswede on this one. Looks like an audi TT with a volvo front end welded on, ie looks the same as every other new car on the road!

I'm with the classics: big engine up front, rear wheel drive and good old-fashioned distinctive styling. I don't much mind what a car looks like as long as it's individual!

Having said that, the back end looks kinda funky.

Like a whale outside but not as much space as my 300 from inside, fwd kills the fun and overall look is tupperware plastic, like every new car.

No, I don't like it but also I don't like from 99% of new cars, I don't like round shapes and cute looks, car should look more like monster that eats that kind of sisses for brakefast, imo.

Why car's are being build way girls like them nowdays, is today's men so weak that he has no word to say when buying a car or what it is?

Well, I guess that being equal means men does what woman says, soon we have gone from one insanity to other I'm afraid. Now some feminist will come and sue me because I say wrong words, right?
