Compressor.....the pump, right? I guess a 740 one would work just fine...same engine after all...

There were at least two designs of heater box, and LHD and RHD were different, of course, but I think the AC parts are almost certainly the same. Sadly VADIS doesn't cover 360 AC. Major bummer!

cheers

Erm yeah it does at least my version of VADIS does. I'll check the parts numbers for the 240 and 740 pumps. 200 quid is a bargain for AC. bank on another 100 quid or so to get it going. New drier, new oil/fittings etc.

bad news, part numbers are different so I don't think a 740/240 would work. Also the 240/740 systems are different to the 360 system. The 360 system is a TXV system and the 240/740 systems are a OT system.

200 quid would be what you might pay for a condensor alone (the big radiator at the front). Make sure the AC works first though, oh and you'll need the modified radiator and the extra fan as well as the shroud to make it right. I'm not sure how the B200K cars idling compensation worked either, but you'd need that otherwise it might stall when the compressor kicks in, although it didn't on my car, the revs went very low.

I'm not sure exactly how the heater boxes could be different. The A/C one in my car just has the holes punched out where the evaporator goes and the hole for the thermostat too.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the info - its awesome having such depth of knowledge to hand!

I'm thinking of putting that project on hold for a while, as the expense of obtaining and painting a bodykit is going to be significant, and its not so hot anymore!!

To be honest, on the timescale I'm now working on, you might as well think in terms of the idle compensation being for a B230ET ;)

cheers

A/C COMPRESSERS

Post by smithy » 20 Oct 2004 11:35 am

The 740 compresser will fit . the part numbers might be different and the pipes come out on different angles but the brackets bolt on in the same positions and the belt lines up correctly and they do work. trust me i have fitted many 360 compressers to 240's and 740's.

Excellent - so that's one majorly heavy item removed from the list of requirements...
