Whaat? Car modding there affects your insurance? Weird.. :P I think here only thing which can raise your insurance is the engine size but then again why to tell insurance company that you have modded your engine. ;) People at the vehicle inspection and police are only ones here who are interested what you have in you car. :P Pre -92 cars are pretty much free to build, you can add turbos etc... if you deliver proper dyno-results at vehicle inspection. Power is allowed to raise 20% in a turbocharged car, but nobody checks how much you have power after the dudes at the vehicle inspection have once checked the papers. So you can just run at low boost at the dyno, go with those results to vehicle inspection and after that raise the boost. ;) Kinda illegal though but nobody cares. Same rules for after -92 cars but they require very expensive emission tests if you add turbo to your engine, starting price for those is about 1000 euros and if your cars emissions aren't in the required range in those tests it costs 1000 euros again I think.. So better to stick with older cars or buy a newer car which already has a turbo in it. :D Nitrous oxide is illegal here though because some dude blew himself and his car up at the 80's with that stuff.

over here doing anything can increase your insurance pretty much. they dont dyno the car during the mot thou, in fact the only way they would tell is if you had a crash and the insurance people looked at the car, found a mod which invalidates your insurance then you have to pay for the expensive bimmer you crahsed into

Yeah, they don't dyno your car here neither at MOT but you need to dyno it for turbo-installations and such. Same here, if they find illegal stuff at crash your insurance is worthelss. :P

Dropping a B23E, preferably the 140bhp variant, into a 300 is probably the easiest way to uprate a 360 without affecting the insurance because if you use the original timing cover with the B19E sticker on it who will now it's now 2.3? I cant see the insurance company stripping the engine to measure the cc..............

i've not actually ever known an insurance company inspecting a car tbh, my dad wrote off his 440 and he just took it to the local volvo dealership who phoned his insurance and told them it was a write off. dont think they even opened the bonnet..

In Belgium the engine isn't inspected at all during the vehicle inspection, you "should" inform them if you put a B200ET or another engine for a more in depth inspection. Same thing for the insurance. If you don't have a crash it's ok BUT if you kill somebody, the car will be inspected (100% sure) and if you didn't tell about the modifications mmmmmm You're sm50
