Hi everyone!

Post by 300sweden » 10 Jan 2004 02:29 pm

Hello!
My name's Peter and I live in Sweden. I have a 340 GL -88, with the B200F engine. It's a
really reliable car, has never let me down in any way. Our family has owned two 360, a -86 GL,
and one -87GL. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to everyone.
/Peter

Hy Peter,
thanks for your mail. Can you sand us any photo, we'll be please to put your Volvo in the
pictures section. sm17
Just one question, is it really a 340? I thought 340 only had 1.4 and 1.7 :340: engines and the
360 exclusively le 2.0 liters Volvo! :360:
Maybe it's different from France

Hello Peter and sm90 in the Volvo 300 Mania world!
As Quentin said, are you sure it's a B200? Because here in Belgium + France + UK + The
Netherlands + Germany:
340 = 1.4, 1.6 D and 1.7
360 = 2.0

Hi!
Some early 340's were equipped with the B19 engine. Have seen a few around here in
Finland.
But since -85 model markings should be consistent (340 = 1.4/1.7, 360=2.0).
Also, a few 340's that have a 360's engine, brakes etc. are known to exist. These vehicles
are build by hobbyists, though.

Hi, yes it really is a 340 with a B200 engine. The model is GL,
and I have always thought that the DL models are the ones with the smaller engines. My car
has exactly the same B200 injection engine, equipped with catalyser and Lambda Sond, as is
in the last versions of 360 GL (1987 and 1988). I have seen a few other 340 GL here in
Sweden that are like mine is. To what adress shall I send my pictures?

Very interesting. Some 340 have the wonderful 2.0L motor
that is designed for the volvo 240.

About B200F in 340...
Yesterday evening I heard that it probably (at least in Sweden) only were 340 GL of the year
1988 that were equipped with the B200F. And as I said, in
Sweden the 360 GL of 1987 and 1988 are all fitted with the B200F(with catalyser and lambda
sond), earlier it was the carburator engine B200K. The injection system is the low-power
version with 109 hp. The high-powered (112 hp) are ofcourse the ones in the GLT model. By
the way, I sent pictures yesterday, but I only had three :(

I've received your pictures! Thanks! You know 3 is ok sm18
An important update will be necessary to add all the pictures that members have sent to me.
A 340 GL with the B200F, it's even strange as a 1.7 engine in Belgium! The differences
between markets are sometimes difficult to understand... sm25

Just to add further confusion, you never could buy one of
those 'transitional' 2.0 345s here (UK) - it was either a 340 (1.4) or a 360 (2.0). And the 340
was never a 2.0 here either.
cheers
