340 GL/DL

Post by DeKay » 08 Aug 2004 10:46 am

I'm not sure if this should go here or gen.tech but I'm sure it doesn't matter that much!

Can someone please give me a clue as to what the differences are between the 340 DL and the 340 GL?
I drive a GL but i know i have the instrument panel from something else (360?) as it has a revcounter instead of a clock (my uncle fitted it himself)

I've seen afew DLs around, but can't really work out at a glance what's different :?

cheers
Dave

I'm not so sure about the later 340's, but the 1st and 2nd generation GL's had extra 'luxury' features like heated seats (automatic), tinted windows, passenger side mirror, headlamp wash/wipe, adjustable lumbar support, mudflaps, etc etc etc

V6man is right, a GL has some extras: tinted windows, adjustable lumbar support, the console around the handbrake etc...

my volvo 340 is a 1990 model but it is not a
dl
gl
gle
or any other badging its just a 1.4 volvo 340 the low of the low
but she still has
heated seats
tinted windows
full center console
ajustable lumbar support
the only things she does not have is
a rev counter (not in the instument panel anyway)
electric windows
electric mirrors

the log book simply says 340 1.4
dare to be different

Some late 340s were badged and sold simply as '340' (same with 740s). It's a base-spec model, yes, but ironically better specced than earlier base models, as they were trying to sell the last of the cars!

cheers
