Happy Monday Peeps!!!

Am after a new boot lock for the 340 if anyone has got one spare..... not sure what ill need...
The actual barrel for the key has just decided to come out of the lock for some reason.... couldnt work out how it was held in there... circlip?... so just had it placed in there the other day while I went to the shops, forgot it was there and drove home.... needless to say the barrel must have fallen out on the way home!

THANKING YOU!

Nessy's one was like that for over a year without falling out. The problem is that the barrel is specific to a key...you'll need to get a barrel with a matching key.

There's some sort of circlip which holds the lock in - one of the (rarer) common failures.

cheers

How one can fix that boot lock when it comes loose?

Mine is loose, but still on place, thought that I could spend few hours fixing it rather than wasting money for new one :P

It's just a clip...it costs very little. Dealer part, I guess...but perhaps the part will turn out to be a standard item. Tell you what, I'll fix this on Nessy, and let you stingey lot know how to do it for cheap :-P

IIRC the boot lock barrel is held in with a pin that goes through the end of it. I'm fairly sure I stuck ours up with the cut end of a paper clip, but that might be my memory playing tricks on me :D

So no-one has got one spare? I fear that the scrappy wont be too fruitful as they dont usually keep the keys for the car down there.... obviously would need a key..!

I can probably sort a boot lock out, however I know that that car it's coming from I only have one key, but I suppose I could get one cut for you if you didn't mind paying the extra!

I used to solve the loose boot lock problem my always keeping the boot locked :)

Course, one day I forgot and despite rummaging around in the doctor's car park for ages, never found it. :(

Is it not the same kind of thing as a door lock barrell? I mean, can't you modify it to use a new key by taking the barrell out, putting a key in and then grinding the pins that stick out, off?

The locks are easy enough to change keys, you just need to get a few locks, and you can then nick the pins and chop/change them so that it matches your key!
