Very nice restored 360 Turbo

Post by Fuse » 04 Oct 2004 03:52 pm

Found this. I thought someone else might wanna see those pics too. Looks very nice. Must have been some kind of job to change that roof.. :P Condition of the car at the first pics doesn't seem to be so good but the result in the last pics is awsome.

Crikey - yet another *different* turbo setup. That looks like someone's done a custom bodge onto the end of a B19A carb setup, yet its got a B200 cam cover. Hmm....

Sweet looking car though, very nice. Is the front valance bent though?

cheers

should be, if you weld well you can put the same amount of strength into it

Mmmm I have some doubts about that, it'll be always more fragile on that place... How do you want to weld that perfectly, as the weldings in the factory? And I think it's "hot" to weld on that place... But it's my point of view, of course....

There is a large area of contact there....I think it would have been better to do a 'staggered' weld, but harder to line up correctly. It's done often enough, so I presume it must be safe enough!

I have a pic of that cars engine. It isn't same anymore as in those pics. That setup in those pics I think is a 240 R-Sport kit installed by dealer. They installed few of those here in 360's also at the 80's.

Current look of the engine is like that I suppose.

Hmm... I wan't an engine looking like that too.. :D I should clean up my engine bay a bit... And replace some wires and do some tidying. Now it looks like a bomb has been dropped in. :P

Actually in GL it is a R-Sport kit. Little modified though. But based on a r-sport kit. About GLT I don't know if it is a kit or what. :P I guess there are diffrent looking kits around but most of what they sold here looked like the kit at the pics below. Text in finnish though.. :P

So there were two styles of R-Sport kits? I've seen your one somewhere before you see... You're quite right, the ones in that literature are the same as the one originally fitted to that 360!

To Fuse:

Im looking for a turbo kit like that.Any chance of finding one in Finland you think?
I have been looking for it for a while now,but no luck at all.Not even in the aftermarket.

They did not come to norway with a turbo kit installed. If you might be able to find one someplace i will pay a good price for it :)

To be honest Blade, I think you'd be much better off fitting a 'complete' standard turbo engine. Those kits use very low boost levels (there's no intercooler for a start!), but retain the high compression of the normally aspirated engine to get you the power...but they're very rare & expensive, and you'll only get the same performance from the turbo engine you'll find in any 760 turbo.

If you happen to find one, then go for it - worth it for the rarity value, but they're not really much better than a 'standard' turbo engine.

cheers

I thought so too,but i also hoped i could turbo charge my vehicle without any major engine work/replacement.

So i thought the easiest way, would be to convert it with those kit`s they have in Finland. Instead of an engine replacement.

But i have been thinking of changing the whole engine, for a long time, very long time.

Regards
