best bit of volvo 300 design

Post by 5lab » 21 Oct 2004 02:00 pm

so, we've had the worst bit, now, what in your opinion, is the best thing about the design of the car (ie, not cos it has low insurance/is reliable - something more specific than that).

The seats themselves!! So comfortable, soft and comfy but supportive too. hmm the turning circle is damn good, and the power steering on my 360GLT is just the perfect weighting, not too light as some systems are!

The turning circle is bloody awful for a RWD car! Get yourself behind the wheel of a 740 - those are insane! Agreed on the PAS though, the weighting is indeed perfect.

My vote also goes on the seats.

cheers

340 has a better turning circle than a 360, and its better than a 700 too :P

WTF?! There's no way a 340 has a smaller turning circle than a 740 - a 740 is mentally tight.

Well I can't vouch for other RWD cars, but the turning circle is good! If you think the turning circle is actually tighter than an Austin Metro it can't be half bad...

Hugh is right, the 340 and 360 have better turning circles than 700s  Although if you think about it proportionally the 740 is better, considering it is a fair bit bigger than the 300s!

Those figures are a mile off. Our 940's turning circle is about a third tighter than the 360s, if not more. I drove a 740 a few weeks back, and it was tighter still. No offence VOC, but those figures are BS.

i recon it just feels tighter. i remember a 300 broscure claiming the turning circle was 'a record', so i doubt they'd make a car with a tighter one

Dude...trust me...the 940 can get out of spaces the 360 can only dream of. Maybe its because my 360 has PAS?

Seats - Perfect - and heated -mmmmm
Driving position - Perfect
Loads of room under the bonnet (340 anyway!) - no need to take half the engine out to change an oil filter.
General ride comfort
Turning circle - awesome
Crash worthiness - not that I`ve ever bashed one but I`m sure you`ve all heard stories of the 340 versus Fiesta/Corsa/Merc. van variety.
CVT transmissions - delightfully quirky.
I like the big long bonnet as well - very useful if you ever hit a moose!

Will
