I've no doubt that Chris's instructions are right, the reason mine didn't work is probably the pig's trotters I was fitted with instead of hands.

Lol, John, when you get that motor running again, we can trouble shoot it for you it you want? Sounds like either the power cable, or the earth from the lights from that. We'll suss it anyway dude ;)

It worked fine on PTF, even with Nick's special school on wiring!

Sounds like a good idea mate, won't be for a while yet though, I've still to check all the multiplugs for the lights etc. The 360 project has stalled somewhat.

juts paid for the grill, and got talkin to the guy and he has a collection of various V300 parts, from all years, aswell as a substantial amounts from DAF's body panels trim, lights etc.

he is clearing out a warehouse that all his surplus stock goes to. and there are a fair few rare bits in there!

got the grille this morning at about 6am by business post, very impressed with it, unfortunately there was supposed to be a 'fixing kit' with it that should have included relays, the right length of wires, fuse, and a spare switch(?) as well as some spacers and new screws.

but as i had all these little bits lying about or was capable of making them i wasn't to bothered about it.

(ive got a full set of instructions and diagrams if anyone is wanting a copy of them)
yup, the 2 pegs at the bottom of the grill is to close on the hella for a mk3.
Image

its pretty much exactly an inch out, so with a grinder and some steel i made up some brackets with holes at inch centres, bolted them in the original grill brackets to allow the new grill pegs to locate.

Image

they're a bit rough so they'll be work in progress!

after getting it to fit well enough i turned to the wiring, i managed to acquire a load of wire from a sparky mate which was extremely useful!

Image

Image

after tidying all the wiring up and tying it all back i got the grill in place and fixed in place.

result - extremely happy with it, in looks and in practicality! and apart from that it saved me writing an essay on environmental legislation!!

cheers for the help!

Nice one Ben :D Thats exactly what I ment about the brackets, and exactly what I did on Kar. Fake I have a feeling now I think about it might still be cable tied... but my grill is still more stable that most of teh spot lamps in the motor club :D

What I suggest you do now, is get the car about 6ft from a wall, and level up the 2 lamps, then take it to a lane, in the dark, at silly o clock, and test see where they are, and jiggle until happy.

Just don't leave the grill on without the car moving, I did that once to put a tent up by, and the grill started to get a bit soft after 20mins...

been out for a drive this morning, about 4am. it actually turned out to be 5am cos this dimwit forgot the clocks changed!
they seen pretty well aligned as they are and it makes a hell of a difference,

i was tempted by cable ties but resisted the urge, might sounds daft but does this have to be declared to the dvla or whatever?

Those are indeed great help, I adjusted my extra spots to carry on where car's own high beam lefts off, that seem to provide quite well lit piece of road and surroundings :)

I have now fitted Xenon HID kit for extra spots and that certainly has made lot of improvement, just I would like to change bulbs to 4000K as 5000K is tad too blue to my liking.

Wiring of xenon kit was quite easy, just needed small mods to lamp body.

Looking great!

I don't think you need to let anyone know, except your insurance company might like to know.

I think so ,
I wrote ( emailed )Hella about theses at the same time as I emailed Autoplas about rear window visors and got basically the same answer

These items are no longer in stock or manufactures for any car
try Ebay or auto jumbles
