Just Introducing Myself :)
Just Introducing Myself :)
Hi guys,
Just wanted to say hello and to introduce myself. I've been a reader of this forum for a few months now but I've only just signed up. I'm also a member of a few other volvo forums so you might already recognise the sign in name (I recognise a few from various forums).
For those that don't know me, I'm already a volvo owner but not a 300 I'm afraid. I've got a "slightly" modified S40 and I'm after a cheap 300 1.4 to use as a fun daily driver.
The only problem is, the modifying bug has well and turely gotten hold of me and I can see my "cheap sensible daily driver" getting some 16v treatment etc.....
I'll post up pics and specs of my S40 if anyone is interesed (and dosen't offend anyone!)
Cheers, Andy P

Lol, its not shy I suppose!
Its the reason I'd like to have the 1.4 as a 2nd car rather than the 1.7 - to try and keep insurance, tax and fuel costs down to a minimum!
Hopefully as well, if I reduce my mileage and exclude commuting on the S40 insurance I'll get it down a bit. Every little helps - especially at 22 with only 2 NCB!
Thanks for the comments!

Very nice spec. The thing must go very well. Do you have problems putting the power down through the front wheels??
I'd go with a 1.4 but I imagine you have the bug and will not be able to leave it stock and end with sticking in a 16 valver or 1.7 turbo!

Surprisingly its not all that bad! The turbo is massive and dosen't boost until higher up the rev range but the way its mapped is very linier. Torque steer can be a bit of a handful though! Its fine if the road surface is good because of the equal length shafts and decent suspension setup - but uk roads are never good!
Its an exciting drive thats for sure!
