Car keys. (Two because I have replaced the original steering lock)
Key for that steering wheel immobilizer or what you call it. Well the steel bar which you put on the steering wheel.

Key for the house frontdoor.
Key for the house backdoor.
Two keys for bicycle locks.
Metal keyring with text "Legendary Volvo."

I believe it has something to do with motorway phones...I'll ask Dad sometime. Probably way old and totally redundant...

a long time ago before mobile phones were available there were aa phones all along the moterways (there were yellow as i recall) and you needed a key to use them they were linked direct to the aa i think they each had a different number on them so the operater knew were you were
i think the rac had the same thing but dont qoute me on that
no im not old im only 24
dare to be different

The RAC had the same system keys were for the roadside boxes and were the same cut but different designs the phones inside were ordinary payphones. There is still a survivor somewhere near Knutsford I believe.
I'm not old I am only 47

There still are phones all along the motorway though not specifically rac or aa ones.
Incidentally it is better to use them than your mobile as then the control room know exactly where you are rather than "about 10 miles from that bridge with the graffitti on it heading to Birmingham" which can be a bit vague if it`s a really serious emergency.
I still remember the rac & aa boxes and I`m not 40 yet.
They used to be marked on road maps - I`m off to get an atlas out and see if they still are...

None on my latest atlas (2004)
Sure I have seen a few around though
motoring nostalgia eh?
My favorite memories are of 7 of us - parents and 5 kids plus camping gear packed in a Morris traveller. We had to sit in the footwells and lie on the luggage in the back. Never get away with that now.
And going on long journeys with my Grandad and having to stop & throw up all the time cause he used to drive like a maniac and smoke about 80 a day.
Actually that one wasn`t a good thing...

I'm so old I can remember when the AA men rode on motorbikes with sidecars and had to salute cars with AA badges on them (and not with two fingers either ). thems were the days , the only heat was from the back end of me grandads trousers after a few pints , there were 17 of us living in a cardboard box at the side of the A5 . Happy days !!!
