Hi, I just wondered if I am the only member of V3M with a redline and what other special or limited editions of 300's were produced ?

Also an H reg 1.7 340 has been abandoned with no tax just round the corner from where I live and its got the dash with the extra gauges and the front bumper I need
(pity its on such a busy road or are abandoned cars fair game !!! )
Its wierd coz the door pins are all up , the rear doors unlocked but the front ones are locked { not that I was looking that closely lol )

If I was you, I should take that abandoned Volvo but you must be sure it isn't a stolen car... Or a car used during a hold up LOL

Hi redline

It`s a tricky one with abandoned cars. Could try leaving a note in it saying you are interested in taking it for parts. There is an off chance that the owner may be local and has just left it for the council to tow and crush.

Midnight parts raids are a bit dodgy as it may have an owner who still wants it - this is probably unlikely if the car has been seriously vandalised though.

Perhaps a quiet word with the local police - an area officer if poss. - if they trace the owner, they (BIG) might be willing to let whoever the owner is know that you`re interested if you were to take it off the road and dispose of the remains appropriately.

Does that rule apply whereby if you find something and take it to a police station, if it`s not claimed in a certain time, you can keep it? Can imagine them being well chuffed if you turn up at the station and try to leave a 340 at the desk :D

wjp01908 will know what I mean when I say Milton Keynes is built on a grid system with Vertical and horizontal roads for fast access and then housing and industrial areas forming the centre parts of the squares (slower roads = safer )the car is parked on the corner of my estate on the side of a main grid road ,
I know the car is not from my estate or from the surrounding ones put the number plate shows a Milton Keynes dealership ,
I hadn't checked out the centre console but i think I will go back today and leave a note on it (in all honesty I wouldn't have just taken bits but it is tempting when its put in your lap )
It has obviously been on the road this year as it has a glastonbury 2004 sticker in the front window just the naughty boy has no tax on it

My Dad has one of these, which is sadly stood unused! Unfortunately not a PAS model, just before it was introduced. This version was originally priced at £9595.

What sort of kit did you get with the 60th Anniversary edition? Anything special that you wouldnt've got from a standard 360GLT at that time?

Nothing special actually compared to the later models Steve! 2 litre fuel injected engine, tinted glass, electrically operated front windows, central locking, front fog lamps, sunroof, rear spoiler, alloy wheels, low profile tyres, rev counter, LW/MW radio/stereo with two speakers and aerial. Available in red, white, silver metallic and black metallic. As I believe it was around the time the 360 GLT got the facelift changes, some of these items were different. It's also a 360 GLT saloon, which is what made it the limited edition at that time. The saloons are quite rare, however I have two in my garden! Pete

Yeah you don't see many 360 saloons about now, I'm not suprised you have two in your garden.. is there anything that you dont have in there

I think Volvo were a bit of a cheek as regards to the factory fitted stereos - 2 speakers?! C'mon this is the late 80's we're talking about. Surely most cars of this age had atleast 4 (sometimes 6). Mine did have the option for the rear 4x6 speakers in the rear.. the grilles are still there, but I think Carl has the speakers themselves still! Does anyone know where the Volvo amp would be located? I have two holes in one side of the boot as if something has been mounted there, but don't know what!

A pretty rare special edition was called the 'black beauty' I think, being Mk1 343s in black, with red details and alloy wheels.. looked quite good!

Well unfortunately Steve, I don't have a completely rust free mint condition 360 GLT in my garden!

I know what you mean about the speakers, it's a bit poor really. Still, mine is now sounding quite nice with my few added extras in the sound department! I'm not sure about the amp, never seen one in the flesh myself. The mounting holes you mention, they're in the left hand recess? Those were for the first aid kit I believe, something else I've never seen in a 360 yet, or the genuine cavity/recess covers, though I believe John360 has some? I've made a cavity cover for the left hand side, will hopefully get one done soon for the other smaller right hand one!

the most speakers a stock 300 ever had was 4, with a power amp. 360 facelift?? whatchaonaboutson??

anyways, that spec is EXACTLY the same as my stock 360glt (non special edition)... bar maybe the stripes down the side

6x9 grills? thats aftermarket then, definatly not an origional option. something that grace has got now, having spent all weekend transplanting it from nessy :)

no no no 6x4 grilles, in the rear pillars.. they're most definitely a volvo option as they have volvo written on them! :D

there are a set of 6x9s in my parcel shelf (hasn't collapsed yet), which have a huge depth.. the boot is pretty useless for a car of this size! But gladly I don't need the space that often. Can't remember where the holes are, I'll have a look tomorrow.. might be totally irrelevant!

Another special edition I saw was the blueline.. similar to the red line but with blue bumper inserts, blue matching interior trim etc.
